    hey guys,

i noticed my NA Z is now making a stuttering/clicking noise when the brake is applied... like ie, pedal is pressed...

its really really annoying... is it common?

    cheers guys thanks...
btw they also make that squeak when braking so is it my rotors that need machining? coz breaks work just fine...

    cheers guys :)

clicking = wheel bearings gone, or brake pad pins have come loose and are touching a rotating part..

and no.. you should have NO noise at all when braking .

lol honestly i would soo get a TT my old man had one... he would have handed it down happily to me if they didnt have that stupid Turbo rule in NSW...

i would have had a fully built SIL Eighty by now if i didnt go for the Z, but the Z is just oh so appealing hey?

but its a habit haha im stingy by nature :p

I had a slight stuttering, clicking noise, a vibration almost, but only noticeable at low speed just before actually stopping. Found the cause was a lack of the special grease on the back of the pad plate. Added this and the noise went.
Don't know if this is your problem but it sounds like it might be - it's worth a check. Caused by slight movement in the pad apparently. Probably really needs rotors re-facing but the grease got rid of the noise. Just don't get grease on the front of the pads.

wheres the clicking stuttering noise coming from ?
If it sounds like its behind you , in the boot , could just be the abs kicking in

okay now theres quiet a few noises coming from the brakes lols

when i press the brakes at standstill.. in park..

i hear a whistling noise coming from the pedal area.. and that sounds like air is escaping or something

at the front i can hear clicking... this is still standstill

i hear like that old car breaking noise when im stopping... while driving... like the train ones lol.. sorry im not good at explaining sounds LOL

and when im just normally driving i can hear a little like squeaking.. i presume these are the bearings... EDIT this sounds like its coming from the front..

altho i have no idea.. its really odd..

hows that for my zeds breaking system ;)

I think it's time to get a mechanic to take a look. The "old car" / "train" noise sounds like it might be metal on metal. If so you need new pads NOW. No idea what the whistling noise is but if it's a leak, that needs fixing now too. You can't afford to take a chance on brakes not working.

maybe discs are warped? maybe u need new brake pads for the squeeking

my pads used to creak when pressing the brake pedal whilst stationary. Didn't have any shims behind the pads. I fixed this by using brake goo behind the pads.

    Yep!
Very common to have that creaking sound whilst applying brakes when stationary.
There is also a chance that some noise is being generated by worn Upper Control Arm Bushes.
Any rhythmic clicking noise during driving could well be a cracked Brake Rotor/Disc.
