a little confusing but what turbos do you have ?

do you know the compressor wheel and turbine wheel sizes ?

is it .63 or .83 rears

in the picture there are 2 sets of turbos ..which ones?????

in the pic there is a pair of stockies in the middle and the other pair is on the outside.

the other pair are, according to the receipt:

    T25/28 Turbocharger .83a/r Rear

    Description in for sale thread:

2 x T28 hybrid turbos, water and oil cooled, steel wheel, T28 front with a .83 rear housing (done about 2000ks)

Thats all the info i have, i am able to call both the previous owner and the shop he got them if i need more info?

OK T28/T25 usually means your compressor is either 46.5 or 47.2 (which looks about right from pics)
and your turbine wheel is 41.7mm (although its a 10 blade it is hard to tell in pic)
this would be similar to gt28r.

remember its not just only the housings that cause lag but the size of the wheels too...but in saying that I would not use a .83 5 bolt housing .

you can get verniers or small tape measure and see what size your turbine wheel is roughly most likely be either 41mm or 47mm

What "exhaust" parts cant be fit with engine in?

Its a noob question but, manifolds, dumps etc?

I've never really had a good look down there

I wanna know what parts i can buy/fit later, after i've put engine in, so i can get my engine in sooner and then do the extra few mods later.

    Cheers,

    Adam

i had trouble getting my stock extractors off my vg when the engine was out of the car, half the bolts were very fiddly so i'd hate to try do something like that with the engine in the car.

just shell out for them now or you'll have to pull the engine again

Exhaust should be first imo otherwise it's just going to choke. The stock system is very restrictive.

The cheap fix is to just take it off all together! ;)

Definately fit the turbos before you put the engine in.

I already have cat back at the moment, I plan on doing the rest later as my priority is to get all the engine parts i need while the Australia / America exchange rate is good.

I'm having a hard time finding a compressor map, closest i found was GT28RS map, but it didn't state what size the exhaust housing was.

Anyone able to help me out?

To be honest I'm not sure I understand the maps fully anyway haha

I'm sure someone on here can help me figure out how laggy these turbos will be?

With out all the specs on the turbos we will all just be guessing. My guess with those turbine housings is it will start making boost around 3000rpm and really start moving at somewhere around 4500, full boost should be in by 5-5500 and hold strong well past redline.

That was about right for Fate's old Zed when it was working. Full boost was around 5000-5500rpm. Gave a bit of a kick when it hit in too, so start boost might have been a bit higher than 3000rpm. I have a funny feeling that they were high flowed to...

    Edit: T28's not stock.

Haha yeah let me know when you want a hand mate! Just send me a text. I'm trying to save up the cash I need to rebuild and such so unfortunately its going to be a few months till its looking practical. My zed still goes at the moment though, just a bit smokey sometimes :p

no compressor maps will tell you what size the exhaust housing A/R or wheel diameter is because they are COMPRESSOR maps. You need to find the turbine map to see what flow they need. You will also need to do some calculations for the compressor map to work out when your engine will start pumping that volume of air.
You cannot compare a 0.83 housing in any other frame (T3,T4 etc.) when comparing it has to be a T28 frame as well.
Maybe just see what the results were with people using large A/R T28's on RB30's,2JZ's and RB26's (though RB26's would take longer to spool a turbo because they have less displacement and more comparative bore to stroke) to give a rough idea
