    Hi guys,
It's been a while since I was a regular on this forum, but I've checked in from time to time between changing nappies.
I've had my NA 2 seater slicktop for around 7 years now and I've loved it.
I finally decided to sell because I can't afford the rego and running costs to own 3 cars anymore. 2 seats just doesn't do a family of 5 any favours.
The car's being sold on Monday and I just thought I'd post a sort of "good bye" to the zedding world, at least for the time being.
Every time I think about not driving it anymore makes me sad!

I used the car for teaching people to drive until about the beginning of this year. I officially removed the dual controls mid-year and I've gotta say I felt a bit relieved knowing that no one was expecting me to be such a good example as a driver anymore! No more signage and L plates to give me away.

The car had 187500 kms on it and remains stock. The only mods I did were to disable the 105km/h speed alert chime and replace the rear shocks with konis. During its life I think I've replaced every gasket and seal, the diff carrier bushes, upper control arm bushes, the steering rack twice, the drive shaft with a one-piece, every hose under the bonnet, the damn heater core ($1500 if I remember correctly) and put in a nice stereo. It already had AVG 17 inch rims.

My mechanic offered me $4500 for it and to not have to pay the $660 that it was going to cost me for the replacement of the sump gasket and the service and the replacement 255 40 17 tyres for the rear. So I figure with the added cost of 6months rego in 4 weeks time, that would add up to over $1000 extra. That means that the car is essentially selling for $5500 and that seems like a fair price in the current zed market. I wish I didn't spend $550 3 weeks ago getting the roof, tailgate and bumpers resprayed.
I put a lot of work into 'black chroming' every inch of plastic and rubber inside and outside the car. I polished hard. I even replaced the driver's power windows controls and mirror adjustment controls so the paint on them looks brand new. The stereo cost me about 2 grand about 3 years ago. It's got the nice plush mats in it and the targa straps in the back even though it's a slick top (never worked out why they're there).

Anyway, this is sort of a tribute to the zed that will be no more in my life in 2 day's time. I'm missing it already.

Hopefully I got a fair price.

    Happy zedding everyone!

    Cheers,
    Jason

What colour is your Z? Might've seen it around! It's a shame it's all over though... you sure you don't want to part it out?

    Black of course!
I live on Granadilla St. I see you're in Sunnybank.
Used to be called "Training WheelZ Driving School".
Parting it out.....*shudders at the thought of the work.

Yeah, it was fun. Looks good when the driver puts his feet out the window and waves to passers by whilst the passenger drives.
Annoying when friends wanted to make you look like a tool when in proximity to groups of females.

Hahaha, oh man fun times I'm sure. Got any pics of the car? Cant say I've ever seen a dual control Z before.

    Good luck with the sale!

It looks the same on the outside as a regular zed. I've removed the controls now and I don't think I have any pictures of them. I'm gonna take a few pics before I say goodbye for the final time on Monday. Maybe I'll post 'em.

4.5k for a slicktop is too cheap...
i sold my old slicktop for heaps more than that!

Dont be sad Jason mate, another beginning just starts, I believe you will have another zed again in the future :)

I'd like to call it 5.5k due to the $660 repair and tyres and $400 rego due in 3 weeks I now get out of. Is that more fair?
How much did you sell yours for?
Definitely gonna zed again. This time I'll buy someone else's baby that's already had all the gaskets, hoses, PTU, rebuilds, upgrades done to it for me!

I bought a '93 NA 5 speed slicktop for $5.5k with a blown engine  Lower K's than yours and in great condition.

The price you got is reasonable for a offer off a mechanic and considering it's history of a learner car

    Sad day...

I remember seeing your zed on my first ever cruise and I was gobsmacked to see the Training Wheels Stickers up the side. Couldn't believe someone was smart enough to teach people to drive in a zed. Seemed like a great idea to me, even if it was just the NA.

Have wondered where you had been hiding.

It's a shame you couldn't have made more appearances, but life does that I guess.

In My Opinion You did the Zed crowd proud.

Hopefully you'll show up again in the future or maybe even get the chance to PSA with someone as well.

    Good luck in your endeavours.

    Fate!
