Does anyone know if there is a difference between the exhaust on a 300ZX N/A 2+0 and an R31 Skyline 6 cylinder with twin outlets at the back of the mufflers? Thanks
Id say yes seeing as they're two totally different cars! lol Clearances, the bends around the underbody, the outlet from the manifold etc etc would all be different.
are you talking about mufflers or the exhaust? of course the exhaust will be different (twin system vs single). as for whether you can weld the R31 skyline mufflers onto the existing zed exhaust? yes easily. will it bolt on? probably not.
guess i should have said mufflers we (our mechanic friend) will look at them and see about welding them.....apparently bursons has them new so we'll have a look and see what's involved. thanks for that!!!!!
Oh heh. In that case then sure! You could weld on a Hyundai Charade muffler if you wanted to! If the system is same diameter it would be easier to fit so it doesn't have to be modified, just welded on.
great!!! thanks.....i'll pass the info along. our mechanic friend (not an exhaust specialist) wanted to try them on our car, so before he did i wanted to see if anyone on the forum knew right off if the skylines would be a good choice????
hahah what on earth... thats like saying... well will a skyline exhaust bolt onto a zed :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::drool::drool::drool::drool::drool::drool::drool::drool::drool::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::bow2::bow2::bow2::bow2:
oh no....don't want to do that :-( someone who obviously didn't know what they were doing has tried 3 times to put mufflers on our car and they have all failed. a mechanic friend is gonna try to fix the botched job......
well.....we gave it to the guy who was working on our car at the time (300zx's aren't his thing, he's more the earlier ones) a friend of his, who is supposed to be an exhaust guy, did the mufflers and the first 2 times the baffles collapsed and started rattling, the last time he replaced them with something that is just too loud and obnoxious to enjoy driving or riding in. sux, really. after paying $700, you'd think you'd have a decent pair of mufflers :-(
i suggest you purchase your own mufflers etc and take them to an exhaust shop and get them fit to fit the lot. get some good quality heavy oval mufflers, along with a uas xpipe/muffler and you should be fine with drone and note should be nice.
awesome, chad!!!! wish we had seen these before we spent $700 with the shmuck who did the work and wont warranty it :-( these would be perfect for our n/a, a near perfect car. quite an investment to make on top of a botched job that we can't recover any money on; we might also have to wait on the exhaust as we have more pressing issues all of a sudden.....this tt we just got keeps costing us money as it is something new every week with it, so we've gotta pull back a bit, but thanks for the link.....with the new problem with our tt (stalling in the middle of traffic for no known reason) we'll have to give him to joe at dontex for a plenum pull....... sure are gorgeous mufflers, though.....
