Had a run in with one today, Driving my gf's NA auto, i ran into a turbo z31 (I assume, well HOPE it was auto). Easily served it, and it sounded boosted too... they weren't the quickest thing back in the day, huh? -Kirill
yeah ,they are pretty gutless stock, particurly they automatic NA's, but hey, not everything has to be fast...... the z31 turbos with a few mods can get pretty quick, quite a few running very quick times in the states...... have to say though, other than the 280z/zx they are probly the least popular of all the zed cars.....

a stock Z31 turbo makes 200HP. 20 down on the NA Z32 so assuming auto vs auto it's no real surprise u won.
98% of Z31s in australia are automatic NAs i.e slow lumps of shit the same as Z32s of the same description. Naturually side by side the NA DOHC VG is quicker. http://z31.com/misc/1320/ This doesn't have 1SickZ's ride listed either (9.3s 1/4 mile) nor Frank from WWR's "Viper killer" Z31 either! Youtube is your friend... Mine isn't done yet, but that's secret!
no they don't. Auto 350Z's do it in over 6 seconds, auto TT's in under 6. Don't go by the american results as they do a 30cm rollout
thier is nothing wrong with the 280zx. comfy and enough gut to beat a 95 integra even when its in poor running conditions. like any car they can go fast depending on how you set it up.and thier nicely wieght but maybe a bit to front heavy. but from personal experience,since i own both a 280zx and a z32(as well as a celica), the 280 is the best to work on, hence being my project car. but all the z cars ive been in are just nice for a sports car, thier all different, but thier good at what thier built for.
I'm just waiting until I put my tax in which should see me through to the end, because I'm broke now! lol I just moved house too which doesn't help, but no bullshit excuses. Short block should be ready to rock nuts in 8 weeks or there abouts. I kind of went a bit crazy and out-grew my fuel system even before its running so I have to address that too! More later!
Read again, it was a TURBO z31. Just for those that missed it, I say again TURBO z31, a boosted one (i'm pretty sure). I'm not talking about modified, 9 second z31s, any car can run fast time if it's had major surgery. Just talking standard or close to standard here. -Kirill
Awesome dude, do your balls feel firmer? I dragged off an NA Z32 in a 3 tonne Mitsubishi Canter Truck from Thrifty on Sunday, I'm awesome.
Stock boost Garrett T3 at 4-6PSI and non intercooled SOHC VG motor you'ld hope your z32 would beat it. With just a few grand worth of mods and a tune you would probably easily say see ya later z32. Nissan totally under powered them like the Z32 for what they are easily capable of, with the lack of intercooler added quicker turbo spool response.
