has anyone removed the leaded petrol cap they put in the stock zed filler???
im not convinced mine is leak proof. and always find it a stupid thing...

if i rip it out will the cap still screw into the tube properly?

geez simmo, your modifying your fuel filler neck now, your really running out of things to change on that zed arent you lol.....

i think it needs to stay to prevent splash back and excessive fuel sloshing out of the filler neck when driving.....

wouldnt the stock cap do that... considering these things are put in for compliance

i pulled mine out to reseal it. i am 99% sure that there was no thread for the cap to screw onto if you remove that insert... plus the cap will be too small anyway. just pull it out and reseal it.

cap will still fit as long as you dont **** up the threading for it, but its there as a back up for normal cap thats there...

The bloody thing is there because to NOT have it fitted will guarantee that your car will be put off the road as unroadworthy(and you could cop a huge fine from the Environmental Protection Authority).
It is there to stop you from putting a "leaded petrol" pump nozzle in, and filling your car with fuel it is NOT designed to use, fuel which will cause damage to your engine and increase pollution. It doesn't have to "seal", it just has to restrict.
    Leave the f**ken thing alone.

the last of the 15 year imports didnt have to have the unleaded restrictor fitted to get complied. There isnt any leaded fuel anymore.

So you wont get defected for not having it.

You still get "done" in NSW Tekkie(they look at the date on your Compliance Plate and work from that).
What was the rule at that time still applies for the life of the car in this State.:(:zlove:

Once Removed there is no longer any thread left

Once Removed there is no longer any thread left to screw the fuel cap into.

Was at a motorkhana last weekend and a Nissan GTR had this restricter pop out and the fuel cap came out with it.
All that was left was a gapping fuel neck and no way to screw a cap in as the restricter is the threaded secition.

Just leave it alone. Or remove it and put it back with new sealant if you believe that it really leaks?

lol chilli on your high horse again.. wanna know a secret... i know that the zed doenst take friggin DEISEL ... hell i even know to run it on 98+ octane ..
these things are installed during compliance to stop dumbasses filling them with god know what... all im asking is what is underneath.. or maybe that cap is pulled out during compliance and replaced with this one....

How much AVGAS can we put in there. I heard a little bit helps but too much could damage the engine. Then again I heard that from a pilot who (like me) learnt to fly before he drove.

None, as AVGAS contains LEAD. Your cats and O2 sensors wont like it at all. It will screw them.
