    Hi All,

Yep, the Canberra car-hoon mongrels tried to steal my grey zed last night.

The method of entry is the usual - (details removed)and door unlocks.

Thieves must have been disturbed as nothing else damaged. Oh....car had no battery and no brakes so it was never going anywhere without a tow.

I'll probably call the cops (but I'm wondering why I should bother).

    Cheers

PS: Damage is repairable as I have spares but I will not repair for a few months.

I think you guys in canberra need to start having fun with these thieves. Chances are, you have a zed and park it somewhere, somebody will have a crack at stealilng it. Start putting razors and dog shit under the door handles. Or a recording of machine guns if the door is ajar. Heck could be great fun

I would be taking matters into my own hands at home if they tried it to me..

Definitely report it to the Police. Even though the chances of finding who did it is slim to none, it will help keep a record of the occurring problem.

    hey john,

not you aswell. man when is it goin to stop. thakfully they got away with nothing. Report it john, not that they will do anything. Im too scared to take the zed anywhere anymore. I thinks its time we set up a trap for these guys and karma bite them in the rear.

    All the best.

Or you could just remove the steering wheel. Classic style.

something needs to be done. these F*@#kwits are getting away with murder as far as im concered. i should be able to freely own my zed without fear of theft. Of course, wat are the cops doing about these thefts?, nothing you say.... why arent i surprised... oh but how many cars did you defect last nite c*&ntsable.

Need to pay some redneck in a rocking chair with a shotty to sit out the front of my zed.

    my mate tried this

many years ago and the wiring caught fire. As he tried to open the door to pop the bonnet he kept getting a shock. Naturally we all laughed at him as it was us he was trying to catch as we used to move each others cars.

Sorry to hear about that John, I hope the rest of the clan of Zeds are safe down there.

    Cheers

Thats why you need to use a decent electric fence energizer, you know something capable of energizing over 100km of fencing directed into less than a meter of wire....;) Either that or a decent sized capacitor ready to belt some thieving lowlife if they try to open a door or bonnet, though this will only work once as opposed to the energizer that will just keep on hitting:)

A 20,000V cattle prod hidden in the seat may knock them out after a few zaps :)

    Hi All,

Update, looks like the only significant damage is the door handle. Interestingly, only the barrel is stuffed (it was cleanly ripped out with a bit of the surrounding casting so I now have a temporary hole). The door controls and links have been re-aligned and I now have normal entry using the remote keypad (that is, door locks/unlocks using actuator).

Recharged battery has been installed and alarm fitted and armed. Car is also parked behind a non-zed vehicle and in full scan of the house movement detectors/flood lighting (and soon to be installed CCTV).

So, I need a new door handle and some repainting. Lucky and unlucky weekend.

Cheers and thanks for the comments.

A half-dozen zedders taking turns during the night with a baseball bat is much easier. And you don't have to hurt anyone, just get them all locked up.

In all seriousness guys, setting a mantrap is illegal. :sorry:

Justified, gratifying, damn fun, righteous but still illegal.

However if said perp's car was a little worse off after the aformentioned bludgening device was swung a few times, that's still illegal, but probably not wrong.
