Now, when i bought my 300 closing on a year ago it came with a shedload of audio gear and entertainment stuff with it.. installed (albeit dodgy).
Because of what it looked like.. and how it was put together i've taken it all out (except the indash screen).
I want to put some of it back (simpler) and am after two things..

---What these products are worth?? (FOR FUTURE REFERENCE. I'm NOT selling the gear.)

---How would you recommend it be installed... I'm after ideas, Simple ideas. Cost minimal ideas. :zlove::p

Here is a pic of what it looked like when it was installed.
From the Rear- Also if you look, the subs are on the outside.. Facing INTO the 'custom made' wood board. Now i'm no expert (far from it) and i thought the waves from subs go in all directions but dont subs need the extra hole to allow for the ""in-out"" action that happens under heavy base??

    From the Front-

OK, so you get the picture. It was ugly!!

I have got pictures of the individual products here--
Just fyi, there are 2 MTX Thunder 5500 Subs, 2 speakers ... dont know what brand, 4 amps One jbl gran touring amp per speaker.. and one Road thunder amp to each sub!!!!
There is also something im not quite sure what it is.. I think its a capasitor? or two of them? It says 2 Farad on it and is RESPONSE brand.

I'm not sure what inch subs/speakers they are because i dont know where to measure from (the inside of the sub? the outside casing? etc etc) :p:p:p

All help appreciated. Also i'd like to put the speakers in the door panels? if possible but i couldnt find threads on how to install that (yes there is threads but not telling me how to take off the door panel etc.)
    Anyway, all info Welcome.
    Thanks.

Heres my boot install. A LOT simpler than yours but just some inspiration i guess. made my own custom box fully seals and sounds really deep and punchy. you can also fit some of the amps on the panels behind the seats and for gods sake, run the cable under the trim/carpet! just makes sure you separate all power and signal cables or your gonna get a lot of noise with a sounds system that serious

recently a mate and i were asking ourselves a similar question about a simple and cost effective way of doing a set up. we ended up just getting a few lengths of wood cut at bunnings 2 supports running up the boot and a board that we cut into shape. made an opening for a 12 inch sub and 2 6 inch speakers ( i see you have 2 subs which would also work well) and then mounted an amp below. bought our own fabric/material to cover it all. ended up costing like $50 max and a few hours work. all wires are concealed under the board the only negative is you lose boot space haha. i recently got into the doors to fit speakers required some customising to cover holes left by stock speakers, i think door pods are sold though. the speakers you have shown (if im looking at the right things) look huge so i wouldnt put them in your doors. 6inch was tough enough haha

Your right, they are definately a minimum of 250mm (10"" i think) so ok the doors are out :) (i can get some smaller speakers for them)

I dont know about how many amps/per speaker or whatever, so would i need an amp for the sub, then one for the speakers aswell?.

It was previously set up with like

Jbl GT AMP - for one of the 10"" speakers
Jbl GT AMP- for the other 10"" speaker

mtx road thunder amp- for one of the 10"" subs
mtx road thunder amp- for the other 10"" sub...

It seemed Massivly over the top to me but i wasnt toooo sure.

Also does anyone have any ideas on why the subs were facing INTO a panel of wood (apart from 'he wasnt done yet and decided ""Ahh F**K it, that'll do"") :p:p

sorry about the poor quality thats the best i could get at 12:30 haha but yea thats a rough guide of how mine ended up. i just have one amp running the sub u can use one to run the speakers it wouldnt hurt as long as u have the right channels. im no expert so ill leave it up to other guys for advice there.

    lmfaoooooooooooooooooooooo @ the prev setup

personally if it was me sell it all and start over :)

depends what u want and how far u want to go really. for a nice sounding system, some good splits up front, an amp to run them, and one 10/12inch sub off a monoblock would be nice in a zed.

this mentioned system will surely be alot better than the setup u do with ur existing hardware.... id prob suggest something like the hertz hks165 or boston sl60's splits up front and something like a jl audio 300/4 amp to run them. then a jl audio w3v3 sub off a jl audio 500/1 amp. simple but will be alot better sounding than what u have. sound deaden the doors and you will love it. heaps of info on the web on installations though http://www.mobileelectronics.com.au/forums/index.php should be ur best source of information ;)

mount the amps behind the seats one on each side. custom corner sub box like shown above... no caps. run 4gauge cable from batt to distro box and split to 2 4gauge cables for each amp. if u want to upgrade later on maybe install a 2gauge cable coming from the batt to distro box then split it out into 2 4gauge cables for each amp.... either is adequate...

i still cant stop laughing at the prev setup lol.... i personally wouldnt bother using anything u have there...

the gear you have is not bad..

if i where you and had all that gear.. i would sell most if it off..

your choice if you want 1 or 2 subs..(use the mtx ones 5500 are very decent subs, very very decent)

the jbl amps are very decent amps and 1 capacitor would be ample.. run a 4GA wire into the capacitor and use the capacitor as a second battery..

    EDIT:

is it me or where the subs mounted into flat wood?
and the other subs are running free air?
if they where have a look at the mtx cones and look for cracks.. im prety sure they would be cracked..

also that system would of sounded shithouse if it did not have a sub box..

    good equipment...................... retarded installer

    Nice Time Machine, Doc...

    :)

Looks like something out of Back to the Future... :D

I think what you have there is overkill, with all the amps etc.

What kind of deck do you have?

Most decks these days have a built in 4 channel amp of 50w each. If your deck has that I would power the two front speakers and two rear speakers off that. 50w (23rms) doesn't sound like much, but it's actually quite loud. So yeah, I would try that first. If it's not good enough for you, then all you have to do is switch to a stand alone 4 channel amp with more power...but the deck amp is usually more than enough, especially for a coupe.

As for the 2 subs, do one of the amps you have split into two channels? If so, you could power both subs from one amp. You want to keep it simple and have only what you need. All those amps are overkill imo.

Also, if the car is your daily driver, you should think about keeping a lot of it stealth. From your previous setup, I can see it would be inviting for any thief looking through the window. Keep it simple and hide the things you can...

But yeah, my advice would be to loose all that dead weight.

    Cheers
    Rob.

Personally if you were after a quality sub I'd buy an option audio 12" street sub their 1000 watts and with some decent 6 inches in your doors maybe some 6x9's somewhere (behind the seats) your gonna be in heaven simple and u can make it look good.. .. I put one in my gfs prelude and the quality vs other friends kicker systems and sony xplode etc.. it sounded way better looked better but weighed heaps.. But it comes Down to your own opinion I guess.

If you going for a stealth setup (worried about thevies) take something from this neat boot setup in a GTiR.

Nah, that stuff is pretty sweet. If installed properly would be a killer setup and make you deaf :p I cant wait to start on my boot install. Im going to work on it right after i get my new engine installed.

well not really shit just most is useless. if u want to keep some of it and use then use the subs and the jbl amps. rest sell...

do u have the specs on the jbl amps? what wrms do they produce each channel etc? and also do u have the specs on the subs???

how could u give advise like that when u dont even know what the specs of the gear... for all you know the setup you just mentioned could be majorly underpowering his subs and speakers which can ruin the components somewhat. you always want to feed more power than the specs on the components and then tune it properly... underpowering is not good. probably why it sounded shit aswell +installation....
