Seeing as though I cannot reverse out of our driveway with out causing further damage to my poor front bar, I have been parking in the back yard.

Coming in the driveway on an angle, down beside the house and into the huge backyard where I can easily U-Turn my car around then head back out over the neighbours driveway and out onto the road scrape free.

One morning a few days ago, I got in my Z, windows all fogged up, windscreen whippers not really doing anything, me half asleep and fog settled on the ground.
So I proceeded to drive half blinded slowly out through the gate and around the house.
Suddenly the sun shines out from the trees and directly into my eyes making it near impossible to see from the glare as my windows are covered in fog.

As im carefully sneaking out i suddenly see a big brown blob through my side window!
I freak and slam on the breaks, get out to find this!

I was driving directly forward and would have ploughed straight through my roommates car.
My car isnt ensured for damage to itself and his just isn?t ensured.

Could have been a very nasty call (prolly only front bar damage but still!)
    Was a scary, close call

I cant get insurance until im 25!!!

I would have to write my car off within the first year to make insurance worth while..

The cheapest I could get, even if I ensured it under my dads name and had me down was like 3k or something stupid..
Import cars are nearly impossible to ensure for a decent price if your male and under 25.

    EDIT:
It is ensured for damage to other people or other cars.
Thats all I could get for a feasible price.

insurance for me in the car or the car itself where ridiculous..

it is worth it....your not so much paying to cover yourself but rather for other cars...

Yeah i pay 2.3 with a huge excess for the 350z.

Even with the 300 i'd rather pay that then have to look for a new car lol

I'm fully covered for other cars and other people.

    My car cost me 7k

So 3k insurance (even if thats all I pay which is cheap)
First year cost me 3k - crash and I get 7k for car = 4k profit.
Second year cost me 6k - crash and I get 7k for car = 1k profit
Third year cost me 9k - crash and I get 7k for car = 2k loss

    See my point?

Year so you have 3rd party property damage. That's enough for an young guy and basically a cheap car. I pay $1300 for full comp with $400 excess and a street value of $25,000

lol. its very low key :p

But yer, I'm not that stupid guys, sheesh.

Its just not feasible to ensure my car for the cars worth and the price I'd have to pay for it..

Thats why small encounters like this are scary,, I knew the risk when I bought the car because I knew I couldnt ensure it, but its still scares me that I might get F'ed up by some stooge with no insurance, so ill be getting $20 off him every week for the rest of his life or something Shiite like that..

As Erik has said before - get Insurance! we have seen so many zeds gettin wped off from playin silly buggers (or someone else playin) and it cost them dearly, and some just have really bad luck - ok, so you may be covering for someone else but think of the zed, its not just a car... - shows the level of self respect... yopu are worth it! there are plenty of insurance co's you just need to find the right one... you have an accident whether its your fault or not and youre not insured you may as well throw your 7 grand off the nearest cliff and watch it fly...

Personally, IMO, i think it should be mandatory that if you have a registered vehicle you have to have full comprehensive to go with it...I think its that way in the states and in the UK, should be here too...

I'm on an extremely tight budget but theres no way i would sacrifice my car insurance... go for a higher excess = lower premium...
