hi my names brett, fairly new to the site been havin problem after problem with the zed, just a few things bout my zed 89 tt manual 2 seater 2 extra injectors front mount pod filter magna flow mufflers other than that stock having heatin problems but mechanics said its the thermo stat bein a high temp thermo stat it runs hotter than usual is that true? last night i lost full power no throttle responce for about 5 seconds then it went back to normal then today it stalled when i came to a stop, tried startin it, its loses idle and stalls straight away if i dont have the foot on the accelerator. if i rev it while trying to start it and keep the revs above 2000rpm it throws black smoke out of both mufflers and it runs poorly tried moving it and it has loss of power and revs go up and down while keepin the accellerator at 2500rpm any suggestions?
whoa whoa whoa...hold up there boy. 2 extra injectors??? What the ffff? Nitrous oxide injection or what?
i had something similar happen recently . auto tensioner failed and timing belt went hell loose.. post up some pictures of your engine bay
Adding an extra injector on the intake piping is an old DIY hack job to give enough fuel for higher boost pressures. Dodgy, unreliable and very hard to get right. Sounds like your missing a few cylinders due to a spark issue. Dropping fuel into the exhaust, hence your black smoke. Try isolate which ones aren't firing by unplugging and replugging coil pack connectors one by one. Then check injector connectors and spark plugs. Then post your results.
thanx andy yer the car is on the other side of the city to me atm but ill headin over there on next week and do it then thanx for ur help appreciate it. The 2 extra injectors were on there when i purchased it does look like a hack job not happy bout it but it was running pretty good
nah no nitrous lol they were on there when i purchase the car its a hks injection system or something or other that was it says on the little black adjustable box inside the car i wouldnt have a clue man
thanx everyone ill be checkin everything that has been brought up and will post back wit the outcome soon
unplug the AFM, it will run in limp mode based on assumed air flow up to 2500rpm. If it idles unplugged then it's your AFM causing your issues. Could also be a massive leak in the IC piping.
Could the injecters be dirty / making the car run rich in an attempt to push more boost? Dirtying the spark plugs so a few cylindars are dead and the black smoke is the fule that aint being burned? or am i heaps off?
lol i dont know dude but wouldnt hurt cleaning them out which ill do when i get it back form teh toher side of the city thanx for the input
Yep, old school way of getting extra fuel in when upgraded injectors where stupidly expensive or unavailable.
well seeing as im pro injector cleaner, I would know. Doesnt hurt to clean them if you can but.. just one less thing that will need doing
First thing I'd check is the Engine Control fuse. You should also have the LIGHTS warning lamp very faintly illuminating if this was the case. Sounds very much like this to me though.
Sorry it took so long to reply but i snapped my leg and ankle playin footy so i havent been able to do n e thing for the last 3 months. During the week i changed the spark plugs, 2 days driving not to bad (but needs a tune). Today went to take it to get tuned and started fine then i went to take off back to black smoke and wont hold an idle. Fowled spark plugs?
Possibly. What controls the extra injectors? Standard ECU still? Have you got some sort of funky fuel pressure reg?
