    *gasp*

he'd have a reserve on that though but OMG... even got the rears!!!!!!

And cars are HEAPS cheeper. Watching TG makes me weep sometimes when they have a budget of 1000 quid (about $2k currently) and turn up with a MINT looking Alpha. Sooo not fair.

but as my investigations into Ferrari 348's turned up, rust IS the killer, unless you're very lucky and find a car thats never been driven lol.

    but OMG on those seats.

I recently got standard leather seats into my TT, and am very fond of them (thanks Ryan), but yeah, just thought i'd post that up because I know the demand for them is high over here.

Starting price on ebay means very little.

I realise how ebay works, no reserve and 1 day left with only 1 bidder? It's not going to skyrocket that's for sure.

your right there, but then these cars arent worth much over there. cost a mint to insure so nobody wants them.

M3's and sierra cosworths used to sell for a few grand

I drove a Zed in the UK for a few years. I imported it from Japan and the all up cost was GBP4200 in 2000, say $10,000 registered and on the road. The only thing that ever went wrong was the aircon and GBP500 fixed it. It was a superb car and I still have it.

In the winter time, the councils in the UK use a mixture of salt and shell grit on the roads to combat icing and that stuff is a car killer. Usually you can see the road through the floor of a 10 year old car from the colder districts. Japan, on the other hand, doesn't salt its roads, so grey imports give terrific value for money over there.

In all the miles I drove, I never saw another Zed.

Can I ask, why did you import a Japanese zed to the UK? I thought the zed came out over there in "Euro spec" with no speed limiter, a 280kph speedo, 2+2, TT ?

Looked at a few UK Zeds for sale, and they were all J Specs, but I never found one I liked. Most were red. The proper Euro specs are LHD. Given Zeds are not very common in the UK, a lot of travelling was required to look at units for sale and I got sick of doing that pretty quickly.

A local car importer set it all up for me with a minimum of fuss and bother. It only took a few weeks to get one. Compliance was simple too, MPH speedo sticker, fuel tank restrictor and separate controls for front and back fog lights. Took about 30 minutes all up!

Perhaps the same reason people imported Zeds here despite the fact that they were released through dealers, sans limiter and a 260kph speedo.... grey imports are cheaper?

Ah thanks for clearing that up. Although I have seen a few RHD euro zeds, I guess they must be rare in that config. So the rear foglights are the red ones and they light up?

Nah, mostly people import zeds here because Australia never got an official Twin Turbo, so if you want to drive a Twin Turbo zed, you have to get a j-spec. Europe did get the TT though, so that's why I asked.

from what i know the UK spec Zeds were all 2+2 TTs

and the biggest problem most zed owners over there have is rust eating the chassis away. I was reading a guy had to sell his car after 2 years of ownership because the rust in the wheel archs was to far gone.

They also have the ability to import 99spec zeds too. There is 1 member on there forums who owners one.

    god save the UK Zeds....

My plan when I become a qualified sparky is to Move to Europe to work. Ie Milan something like that. But If I move there for a long time im going to need to drive to the UK, pick up a LHD TT and drive it back to italy! :zlove: Imagine one of these through the Tusacan Mountains. ;)

good luck finding a LHD Z in the UK though. RHD there matey. And given the inbred disdain for the rest of Europe, they wouldn't buy a LHD when a RHD is available for the same coin.

For exotics, sure you might find the odd Brit in a LHD Ferrari coz it was cheep, but again, most are RHD (hence why I wanted to import from there to here).
