A couple of weeks ago I had what I thought was a failure of the speed sensor. I cleaned the contacts and put eclectric grease on it and all was fine. The problem has resurfaced today but I also noticeed that when I went to start the car the "power" light was flashing.

Is this linked or is it indicating a different issue. Same problems as before, i.e. no speedo, no power steering and cruise wont lock in.

    Anyone?

All i know is if the power light blinks at startup it means there is an error somewhere but no1 really knows what the blink combination means. I was sometimes getting 13 - 15 binks at one time.

Mine flashes now after doing the manual conversion. I Just figured is was the lack of the auto and controls.
It hasn't affected performance in anyway and everything is working.

Will be keeping an eye on this thread.

I have just checked the car again having left it overnight without touching any of the wiring etc for the speed sensor and all appears well. I am thinking that there maybe an electrical gremlin at play possibly in the speed sensor.

A faulty speed sensor will throw a fault code intermitently. Seen this before, just change out the sensor and all will be well again. Not an uncommon problem with our aging frail cars ;)

Will cause this at times till the connector settles in with heat and vibration,
then it goes away forever. I use it on both my zeds.:zlove:

Thanks Karl - sounds like my knee, aging and all that. I am going to get the sensor out of my old box tomorrow and put it in. Shame I can't do the same with my knee.

I have used it for a couple of years on both of mine also and have never had any problems like that, but then again I always tension the connector.
