Nope, if you put the pipes on the wrong way it will run but won't rev. One of the sides should be crossed over.

    pipes the wrong way round.

the sides should be oposite to each other.

    ie

    Left side .................. Right side

Small pipe on top ........... Large pipe on top
Large on bottom ............... small pipe on bottom

Bear in mind this type of intercooler is actually 2 completely separate and independant intercoolers, one on top of the other.

See how the pipe that supplies the intercooler on one side is the reverse on the other side, as is the pipe that leaves the intercooler to go to the throttle body. This is so that one turbo feeds the top intercooler and the other feeds the bottom intercooler. This ensures a pipe from a turbo goes to an intercooler then to a throttle body. Otherwise you would have 2 turbos connected to one intercooler and 2 throttle bodies connected to the other.

Note, the side by side front mount intercoolers do not work like this. They are essentially 2 separate intercoolers, one next to the other. They operate the same as the standard SMICs, except they are located in front of the radiator.

    Hope this makes sense.

on that note...im just in the process of replacing my stock IC's with a james FMIC. does anyone still have the install instructions they could send to me?
The 4 metal pipes are all slightly different and it's a bit wonky to install...hmm

It seems that your charge air piping is screwed. This is why the car can idle but not rev.

Essentially its living on the idle air valve.

It can't rev higher than that cos even though the TB is opening up, the piping from one TB is leading to the piping from the other TB, with an IC inbetween...

Felix, exactly what pipes you mount where will be affected by where you located the intercooler and what front bar you have (amongst other things).

There will be a bit of trial and error. One way is to take the front bar off and stand the intercooler exactly where you want it, say on some bricks or something, then work out which pipe goes best in which position. You should then be able to mount the IC and bolt up the pipes without fully tightening yet and check front clearances by positioning the front bar back in place. You can shave bits off the front bar so that everything fits properly, then tighten the bolts and clamps and refit the front bar.

    Cheers,
