Do you want to know why Jeremy hates kangaroo's? To bad I am going to tell you anyway. Tonight I decided it would be a good idea to take my new fancy red zed for a drive into town to pick up a present for my girlfriend and fuel up. Upon returning home as the sun was just beginning to set a kangaroo thought it would be a clever idea to hop in front of me. Jeremy then decided it would be a good idea to take evasive action. Upon taking evasive action Jeremy lost control, tried to correct, overcorrected and managed to jump a ditch and put it through the fence of a mates paddock. Jeremy is now extremely pissed because his new fancy red zed now needs a new front end, and drivers side door.
sorry to hear. You must know NEVER to evade a roo, always plant hard on the brakes in a straight line...
reflex reaction. Most people have to think about NOT swerving. its natural to try and avoide a collision. most people that DONT swerve dont do so because they saw the roo too late anyway.
I fear had I taken the fkr with me it would have ended up in the seat next to me or in my lap or something. Would much have preferred an option that didnt involve a roo or a ditch and fence. But whats done is done and hopefully insurance pulls through.
i had my ZXR-750 for two weeks before hitting a roo, spent the next six months fixing it up.i'll get you back for that one day skippy.
Might I suggest something. The best revenge on young Skippy and his kind would be to get some nice kanga' steaks from the supermarket. Delicious AND delicious
ya see... I should have stuck to my ORIGINAL car plan before my mate got me into HPI's...... buy an old Kingswood and "Mad Max" it up
considering how low the zed is i rekon if you aim strait enough you could get away with it just rolling over the top of the car, might take its legs out or something but at least you keep your life.
I initially LOL'd when I saw the thread title as I was assuming it was Jeremy Clarkson you were talking about in relation to some kangaroo incident while in Australia doing Top Gear Live....once I read the thread though I feel for you man, hopefully the insurance claim pulls through....I think though that this is a prime example of why you DONT swerve for wildlife on the road....better having to repair a front bar and radiator than have to potentially buy back your car from being written off and fix up massive damage...or even worse, loose your life because you swerve into a tree The other advantage of staying straight is your braking efficiency will be a lot higher, potentially stopping in time rather than sliding sideways. Glad to hear your ok anyway and good luck repairing your fancy red zed...good chance to chuck some upgrades on in the process Cheers! Craig
Yeah I am sorry matty, you have no idea how pissed off I was hey. Seems insurance is pulling through and work should commence this week, fingers crossed. The rims are still in good nick, just a bit of grass between them and the tyres, all in all damage wasnt to bad considering. Would have preferred no damage but obviously my luck has run out.
I havent got any, not on a decent camera unfortunately. I kinda refused to look at the car after I had done it. And seens as it wasnt planned didnt take a camera with me. I will see if I can get someone to take pictures for you if you really want them. Front bar is ruined, same with intercooler pipes, intercooler may be ok, right hand side of the nose panel just above the front bar has been pushed up a bit and drivers side door stoved in. Looking at where I put it I managed to put it between two clumps of trees, kinda count myself a bit lucky. Still pissed but.
