I was just putting the spare tyre back in my Z after lending to a mate, and noticed that I have a factory air pump and pouch sitting in the spare tyre well. Is this factory? Was it an optional extra? I also remember in the past people selling "targa bags". Were these an optional extra? What I am wondering is what other odd accessories our Z's could have been ordered with originally or even over the years from a Nissan dealership? It'd be interesting to hear...
the air pump and tool set where only found in 2 seater models not 4 seaters, dont know if they were optional extras but thats what i know about the pump and tool set. Tartga bags might have been an extra, i found a second hand set from a wreck as mine didnt come with any but they might have got nicked before they shipped the zed to aus. There weere a ton of optional extra stuff for the z32, speical parts like the light up door sills and rear centre panel. Car phones, snow cains, ski racks, Navan special parts, heaps mate.
here's Adam's old post with a scan of a optional extras and Navan catalog http://www.aus300zx.com/forum/showthread.php?t=272686&highlight=300zx+racks
:S My Z is a 2+2 and it has tools and nissan wheel chocks. I got no targa bags or targa strap things in the boot to sit them, in, my boot looks way different to everyone elces ay,, It looks like parts are gone, im not sure... its verry square against the back seats.. _\ like that, i thought some had a little mount thing _=\ like that..? I too am interested in this stuff, my Z is missing bits and peaces I do however have origional "Nissan Fairlady Z" badged foot mats,, front and rear.
yeah 2+2s and 2+0's both had tools and wheel chocks. But apparently 2+2's never came with the pump. Mine didn't come with a whole bunch special besides an owners manual, wheel chocks (and no jack, i mean how do you lose a jack?)
try and work this out my z is NA and has: TT sticker under the bonnet, NA engine under the bonnet, alloy jack (originaly only in the TT), targa sraps (original only in targar tops? mine is slick top why have them?) no tyre pump (original only in the 2 seater, mine is two seater) I know it can all be explained but man what a mismatch of options.
All 3 of my imported ZX's still have the "emergency flare" fitted Arent they are sposed to be removed during compliancing .... ?
Yep, it's part of compliance to remove the flares. But some of them are just lazy. Both my gf's car and my car had the flares. I gave one away to another zedder, kept the other! -Kirill
There is a very simple reason for the lack of a pump in a 2+2. The space saver spare in a 2+2 is an inflated spare, whereas the space saver spare in a 2+0 is an uninflated smaller diameter spare(and needs to be pumped up prior to use so that it can expand to the required diameter).
Looking through forums and through the "Extras" My owner of the ZX must have been rich! its gots most of the extras in it.. (they dont seem like much to me :S)
Maybe someone welded a TT and an NA together to build your car! haha (joke). Maybe a TT converted to an NA when the engine died??? The chassis number should be able to reveal some more details. Only if these cars could talk. I personally wonder why my car has the electric seat wiring in place (someone has cut it to remove it from the original seats) and manually adjustable seats in place. SRS air bag sticker on the window visor, but no airbag steering wheel (just an original stock Z wheel ). My friend suspects that the guys on the docks either in Japan or wherever have first dibs at the cars and take what they like.
I had ther flare in my car for ages too. Then i read somewhere that they can become unstable and possibly ignite with age I took it out and set it off in the back yard. Was bright as and lasted about 5 mins. Dont think ill miss it and id rather not turn my car into a molten puddle
