    Hey guys,

Just wondering if anyone has attempted puitting in 6x9" speakers in the front? If so how much did you cut from the inside door pannel? Or how did you do it, I am looking to do mine, and will probably cut back the inside a bit.

If you have pics of your finished looks that'd also be great.

    yeah I do!

I'll try & get ya some pics! ;)

but the install guys did it for me when I had my Eclipse system fitted.......the car already had Blaupunkt 6x9's in the front doors.......so I can't help ya with what they did to get them in there?? ......but I'll have a look when I get home??

I run 4x6's in the rear stock mounts plus some bullet tweeters in the doors (all driven off the head unit! .....the bullet tweeters have crossovers so they only run the really high frequency stuff!.......just to 'lift' the vocals & crisp top end stuff from down around your legs!) , then a 4 channel amp in the boot - 2 channels are bridged to drive a 12" sub & the other 2 drive the L & R 6x9's in the front doors!

It's all Eclipse stuff & this set up sounds sweet in the Z cabin! :zlove:

Others will flame me for it! & say the 6" splits is the ONLY way to go in the front! ........but I love it & everyone that's heard it has had good things to say! ;) .......plus a quality pair of 6x9's is usually cheaper than a quality spilt.......& the bottom end response is much better IMO!

    So it's like anything........unless you've heard it don't knock it!  :p :p ;)

    Awesome!

Yeah some pics would be great, I want to keep the stock look as much as I can, I don't want some oversize speaker hanging out of my door ready to grab passengers legs (Leave that to me (girls only lol)).

But on a serious note, I would pefer to cut into the door inside to fit them in, I want to have nothing looking different on the exterior of the door.

    RF!

Dude, honestly, I've seen both installed and I have to say that a good set of quality splits will never be beaten by a pair of 6x9s. However, I'd love to see your car in person to prove me wrong :p

The best set-up I've seen (well, heard) for the money is Rockford Fosgate. Best bang for your buck you can get. Even their base level stuff is completely awesome. I currently have a set of 120w 3-way splits in the front (RF splits have 2 tweeters), a set of 2-way 6x9s in the back and a 12in sub. The speakers are just run straight off the head unit and the sub is powered by a RF 300w amp. So simple, affordable, and sounz freakin sweet!

I run 400w 6" RF splits in the front off the amplifier and they definitely give more than enough sound already...need to get some soundproofing too, the music makes the passenger door vibrate and sound dodgey outside.

    nothing in front

i have nothing in the front and im running 6*9 in the back..
the fronts illd be running splits because it will look stock and for 6*9 you will need to space them out witch will take alot of work...
also 6*9 dont have the crossover powers the splits have because its all hidden under the tweeders (bigger crossovers mean less resistance.. less resistance means better sound quality)
and im not saying 6*9's are crap.... im saying 6*9 are good for the money and they will kill splits at lower range.. but when u get to the high end the splits will shit all over the 6*9's
    just some food for thought...

    ive seen them

    they cost more than 500..
i dont think they are worth it unless u can find them second hand for like 300
i saw a 6*9 3 way infinity split set... (6*9, 4, 1) going for 990 new... yes it will shit all over everything else but for that money u can get MB quart's best 6.5" splits... and still have spare money for like a half decent amp to run them....

Hmm, I might be leaning towards the 6.5s now. They seem like less work, and will keep the car looking more stock.

    Pics!

Sorry these aren't the best pics!.........but work has me flat out at the moment & I've been getting home late every night!! .......so these are just some old pics I already had!

The flash of the camera really emphasises the 6x9 speaker in this pic??......in reality in the car under normal lighting the speakers are not as 'obvious' as they look here!.......in reality they blend into the door much better than this appears!

I mounted the bullet tweeters in the corner of the windows like this because at the time I wasn't sure if I would be trading to a TT at some point??.......so I thought it would be easier to replace this window trim if I ever removed the stereo rather than leaving empty holes high in the door panels!

Now I have decided to keep my car! :zlove: I intend to mount these tweeters into the door panels!......so essentially they are working as a 'split' with the 6x9's........it's just that they are not wired directly from the 6x9 signal cables! ........instead they are connected direct to the head unit via a 'crossover' sitting behind the door panel to filter the mids & lows out of the signal!

They are just a 'Fusion' tweeter.......but as they are only handling the really high stuff they are fine!......works a treat!

If you wanna see more pics I'll try & take some on the weekend!......or if you're ever passing through Carlton you're more than welcome to take a look!.....& a listen! :zlove:

    Hope this helps! ;)

get the 6.5 splits and amp them. will make sound a lil louder but a lot sharper and crisp.

there's always Peter's speaker pods which makes fitting 6" speakers in the front real nice..

i got 6.5" jbl splits in the front and a custom set up in the rear so i can have the same splits in the back to :D :D there running of a 4 channel mtx amp n for the bass i got a pioneer 12 inch sub running of a mtx monoblock. 2 amps + 4 splits is the best way to go. deffinatley get splits in the front thats a must. look at any competition car system you will never see 6x9" or anythin else like that.

 wrong the eclipse van and the alpine car and the pioneer cars all have 6x9s in them. the meaWA crew nearly all have 6x9's in the too. but i do reckon 6.5 up front and they do wonders for sq
