Few NA and TT boys have changed the intake Pipes with polished hard pipes. Looks great and impressive. But the modification will only change the look or it improves the POWER????? may be 1 kw. Can someone tell me why I shouldn't be doing that. Called UNIQUE Auto sports and they are selling UAS HARD PIPE KIT FOR NISSAN 300ZX NON-TURBO for 210.00 delivered without POD. But the salesman told me there will be no benefit apart from the look. Similar kit in ebay from 49.00 to 150.00 USD. Spare parts auto market is really confusing...
If you're into the whole bling thing, sure, get them. If you don't care what your engine bay looks like, save your money for something else.
Very true...still can't control myself not doing that. Someone telling me inside me it will give you more power....
Will make zero difference to power. One benefit will be if your stock hoses are splitting at all, these are great replacements and you will then see a power gain since you won't be losing boost
No gain whatsoever for power. Your money is better spent elsewhere. Although I do have a set installed, they look nice, but realistically, how often do you really look at your engine bay? Spend that money on something that you can at least appreciate - eg something inside the cabin that you will use/see everytime you drive the car
These look great on N/A's Renzed and Jedi 77 have these on their cars. They both look mint in their respective engine bays.
On the other hand, if he fits them(and you are correct) he will have GAINED boost and therefore POWER(given that he has an NA).:zlove:
These are great for replaceing old and wornout cracked hoses, since the turbo hoses get old and can collapse when boosting higher boost they are a good mod. But with your N/A the only reason for you to fit them is if you need to replace knackered ones.
Hard pipes look all right, but silicon imo is better and less likely to work loose and leak. On an NA this is not so much off a problem, TT is a different story.
Also the AIV's are removed on the hard pipes too. One less electrical thing in the engine bay to go wrong. I have a N.A and i am going to use some 60mm vacuum hose from a pump place. Silicon looks slightly better but is subject to damage from the heat of the engine bay. Stock pipes are 50mm for reference, and a increase of 10mm in diameter would increase air flow by around 18%. Get your throttle bodies bored to 55mm, shouldn't be a problem, i did, and clean your butterflies as well Cheers, Adam
hard pipes look mate dont even bother with unique autosport, they took 3 months to get me a pair in and that was after collection of money, they buy them from the same place as the US people sell the same ones for 40-50 buks.....if u want hard pipes for looks just buy the cheap ones from america and plus they are very lightweight! ive noticed the pipes get really hot and this is one downturn to the mod, not a significant change in the KWs but it deffinately looks great!
They look great apart from that not much benifit at all... Got my ones of ebay a couple of years ago and still fine...:cool2:
hot300zx (simon) posted the USA/ebay link a couple of weeks back ... cheap as chips ... he chromed his ... look smick ...:zlove:
doesnt it also give you a better intake noise?.....if so there is another benefit.......dam i would rather have a nice sounding car over a faster one...
