now that i have tried to answer any questions on wiring matters can anyone give me an idea as to when i changed the dash faces to new 300k gauges and let me tell you they look mad as,get them at http://www.bmgauges.com.au/index.html and if you want to order the 300k ones you have to email this guy and tell him or put in the code D-300ZX300
lol anyway they send you a resistor to change in dash so it calibrates the speedo,my problem is that now that i have changed the resistor it now makes my speedo move to slow and also the tacho moves just as slow.checked the speed against a navman and as i speed up to 100k by the navman the speedo is still coming up to the 100k mark,im thinking maybe i need to change the resistor to another value,so if anyone has had to fix this issue the same can you let me know, thanks heaps.

you sure the needles aren't touching?

the motors are sensitive to the height the shafts are inserted into them. try pulling the shafts out or pushing in further to see what works best. when moving the needle clockwise to say 80 kph and letting it drop down, it should drop back down relatively freely. if it is slow dropping back down then it is pushed in too far.

Yes, your issue does sound like clearance of the speed arm over the speedo / tacho face.
As Fleet says, try and pull the needle assembly away from the gauge surface so the arm doesn't rub on the gauge face.

When I inserted my indiglo dials, I pulled it out a little as it was touching. Big mistake. They are really sensitive to the heights of the shaft and I found it impossible to get the tacho moving at its original speed. I ended up just replacing it with one from the wreckers, it was that big a PITA. Just be careful with it.
