as i am putting new engine and the new one has only done 89,000km's compare to my old engine which was 147.000kms. so now that makes my odometer reading wrong?? :bash: so should i change it or is it illgeal or don't bother.. cause getting a better engine anyway.:bash:
It is illegal to tamper with odometer... What most people do it document how many k's the replacement engine has, and how much is on the odometer at the time of replacement. Remember that the odometer doesn't just say how many k's the engine has done, but the ENTIRE car
It's illegal, what's more is it would be pointless to change it. The odo tells you how many k's the 'car' has done... not just the engine, just because you replaced the heart doesn't make the suspension, chassis etc any newer. Best to leave it, chances are your 89k engine has done more than that in anycase. Too quick for lil ol me Simo
It would probably be silly for any of us to believe the odometer readings on any of our imported z's with out proof... Mine says 97K but there is no way thats true
i agree that the odo reading means nothing as everyone knows most of them are untrue and what jono says is spot on,the odometer doesnt tell you how many clicks the motor has done :bash: ,its the whole vehicle but there is a way around it,if you drive the next 29,000 km's in reverse ,it should then all even out
