Who's done a Manual Conversion and what did you do about keeping the cruise control useable? I've read that most people bridge the neutral switch from the auto loom but I understand the ASCD will not work unless it sees the neutral circuit dead.

    Hi Carl,

The Godfather has been converted to manual and ASCD works fine. After some rewiring it even works to 148 kph now, although it only worked to ~105 kph when I first picked it up off the docks. Sorry, not able to give much help to your question other than it can be done.

As an aside, car still beeps when in reverse. Wouldn't mind disabling that. If you find a way pls let me know.

    Cheers,

    Peter

Disconnect the auto harness altogether and jump the starter relay. Problem solved. ASCD works great.

So you are saying to bridge out the neutral circuit from the starter relay? Sounds like it would work fine. Could you explain exactly which wires to manipulate to save me some time in homework?:)

Its easy. Just unplug the connector with the black-white and black-yellow wires going to the relay in the fender-well (driver-side for my Z).

Then just jumper the connections in the exposed connector, or cut and wire the two together. You can wire the clutch interlock switch if you are particular.

Here's my complete writeup on the swap if you're interested: http://www.zcar.com/forums/read.php?f=3&i=383648&t=383648

    Best of luck.

That's a beaut write up for someone considering the swap. Shame some of the hosted pics no longer show, especially the wires you are referring to but I get the gist of it. I'll check the write ups on tt.net for the wiring too.

I gether the plugs for the ASCD cancel and clutch interlock switches are in situ waiting to be used?

the pics will show - for some reason you need to refresh the sight a couple times to get all the pics to load. dont know what that is...

here is the pic of the starter bypass wires:

I've had a look at the site again and yes the pics do work. I also had a read of the articles on tt.net and they are quite good too. What I may try and do rather than bypass the starter inhibitor switches is to find which wires on the AT harness to the shifter is for the reverse lights and the neutral switch. That way all that needs to be done is the wires spliced and dropped through the top of the tunnel next to the shifter and fit new connectors. Unlike the manual that has these switches on the box, the auto has them built into the shifter itself.
