Huge Pricing Variations - EFI Harness - JDM vs USDM

    Vuk at AMS is doing my engine rebuild and seems to be experiencing difficulties in acquiring a new EFI harness for my RHD Z. When I dropped off my Z in July he already had plenty of LHD harnesses in stock of which I vaguely remember them being relatively inexpensive. Today I thought I might lend a hand in his search and went first off to TTZ since I've ordered some parts from there before. I couldn't believe my eyes and my jaw dropped when I saw their prices.

    TTZ price - $879.89AUD

    So I went to a couple other places I've done business with in the past.

    Z1 price - $348.00USD

    And then I looked here;

    CZP Price - $345.00USD

    As you can see, even with the exchange rate conversion, the RHD harness is still twice as much. This is completely insane and it would be nice to find out why there's such a cost descrepency. Or better yet, find a more suitable / reasonably priced harness. Tell me that these RHD ones are made of gold or have some special uniqueness to them that makes them cost twice as much as a USDM one. I'm sure there's still plenty of demand or probably even more so for a RHD harness over a LHD harness.
    Can anyone shed some light on this?

    I take it the looms are not interchangeable?

    Looms are interchangeable, the LHD harness is a tad longer than the RHD harness. The excess is just tied up to make it neat. I suppose the gromet could be moved further up so the excess could be moved into the cabin.

    that's normal and is why we buy most our parts from the US, even if they originate from Japan.

    it'd even be a lot cheaper to buy cars we export to the US from the US, if it were possible.

    A lot of TTZ parts are sourced via a dealer from Nissan Australia. Nissan's pricing of spare parts tends to be horrendous, as witnessed by the loom pricing. If you want a J-spec loom, I guess this limits your options, but I was told that a US-spec loom can be fitted to J-spec cars with some shortening where needed.
