    hey guys,

im looking at buying a 300zx twin turbo manual once one i find one that is right for me..

ive only ever had v8's and ive always loved the 300zx's so i think its time that i tried a turbo 6.

the car before my current one was a supercharged 5 litre which went pretty well, so as u can imagine im going to want the zed to be quick too.

with the tt manual versions, ive read a few articles of people getting 600rwhp out of them without headwork or camshafts.

wat kind of mods are involved to get decent power out of them to start off with before spending big $$$

    cheers guys

I would say between $15,000 and $20,000 dollars on top of a standard purchase price, to strengthen the motor (aka rebuild with quality stronger internals), 2 new turbos, new injectors, after market engine management, electronic boost controller and a new exhaust to boot.
My Zed is auto, the motor is mechanically stock, just FMIC, Boost, Zorst, Pod, Unichip.
12.6sec 1/4 mile, and accelerate to 100KM in under 5 seconds (traction allowing of course).
So, you can get a mid 12 on a standard-ish car.
My next evolution involves the above mentioned steps, although I already have some of the gear, so I expect to pay around the $10,000-$12,000 mark.

    WhiteNight Littering and...

Be doing really well to be getting 600rwhp out of a stock engine/turbos. I was under the impression the general numbers were closer to 330ish rwhp with most of the bolt on mods and a good tune.

300 RWKW has been achieved with stock internals, turbos and injectors.

to get up to 600RWHP you need at least GT28RS turbos, 555 injectors (and engine management to suit), aftermarket dumps, lumpier cams, an aftermarket fuel pressure regulator, and you can either roll the dice with the internals or go eagle rods and ACL hyperlite pistons. we got up to 580RWHP with our setup.

    I agree with greg...

FIXXER, if i was you, i would go through some of the Guys/Girls in the members list http://www.aus300zx.com/forum/memberlist.php

and look up some people who have some pretty mean 300zx's.

Greg as you can see has a 12.6 sec tt, with stock turbo's i believe.

    90TTZ has about 260rwkw...

rob260 is working on a complete engine rebuild... hoping to achieve figures 350rwkw +
    here is a link http://www.aus300zx.com/forum/showthread.php?t=261621

If your interested, there are some great dyno graphs on the nismo.com.au website:

Have fun, and i dare say the 300zxTT wont disappoint... i only have a N.A baby becuase of the stupid P plate laws :bash: :bash: :bash:
    But i have seen a few tt's crack 10sec 1/4's

Here are out current 1/4 records:
    http://www.pexcom.com/forum/httpdocs/Draglist/draglist.htm

    And our current dyno results:

    IMHO they dont disappoint

    Cheers Wilo

yeah i was looking at some of the american z32 sites on yeah there is alot of cars with big power "claiming" 600hp with no hed work or camshafts,

it seemed a bit strange to me, but im not familiar with the potential of these engines so excuse my ignorance im just trying to find this stuff out.

PEXZED - ur mods would do me fine for that kind of power for a while, my charged ss was a bit quicker but once i save a bit of coin i would turn it into a monster ;)

and with those power figures i was quoting from the american sites, it wasnt with stock bottem end of turbo's it was a single turbo conversion

not that I know of, we race regularly, only mod to the diff is the leader richmond shorter ratio gear. yes the diff is extremely tough.

our motor in its current build has been racing since Feb 2006 and done over 300 race laps. so its reliable :)

If you want a head start.....

There are currently two "Tuner" cars being offered on the Yahoo Japan site. One is an ex "JUN" Auto Salon car with quite a lot of gear already bolted on.

The other is a "Bomax" car which has a similar amount of goodies including full Bomax body kit!

Both are being offered for sale at over Y1,000,000 and on top of that you will have to add shipping etc.

    Just a thought!:D

i think you guys misunderstood what he said... 600hp without Headwork or Cams is definatly possible.

    he never mentioned stock block/turbo.

quiet a few people chose to keep the VVT and 600hp at the fly would be like 350-400rwkw ish.

you could achieve that but personally i would do some headwork to strenghten/widen the valves etc. id also change the cams, personal preference there.

there was a thread just recently asking about power/buck on a stock car.. you should check it out, quiet a few replies in there mate.

stock engine a zed will hold up just below 300rwkw as a daily (a few on here have it) and yeah im generalising people, alot more to take into consideration, but a bench mark for power it can handle, jason our resident junkie was running 320rwkw on stock engine/turbos with nos, fuel pump problem saw him in doo doo tho.

in my opinion the real money comes out after you want more then 250rwkw, thats where you go all forged and bigger turbs, injectors, ecu.

well find that thread anyway! its in Z-tech.

    So is 500rwkw possible with HKS2530's running 30psi ?

Greg whats involved in the valve body modification ?? and why did you do it ?

With supporting mods 500rwkw is possible with HKS GT2530's. Dee Ridgeway pushes 666 RWHP (496 kw, a little less in our terms due to US dyno's reading a little high):

I was hitting the rev limiter during gear changes at WOT.
Basically, as it was, when the engine speed hits 6500 rpm, the autobox computer says "change gear", and then as it released first gear the engine revs would flare up to the rev-limiter and seem to hang there forever until 2nd gear would bite, and then the same process from 2nd to 3rd.
It was only an issue when I upped the power from stock.
The Valve body modification up's the line pressure making the gear changes much firmer and quicker.
Like a real kick in the back at WOT now :)

It's a box in job (wow a job on the 300 where the engine AND gearbox can stay in the car :D)
1/2 a day and about $400 is your budget, unless you want to spend extra $$$ and have the solenoids replaced too. The $400 covers the labour to have a shop do the mods.
I can recommend Boxstop, as they charge (or have been charging) Aus300ZX members $395. They are a trans specialist, and do trans for drag cars etc.
They are in Timms Ct in Woodridge.
If you come on the cruise, you can come for a drive in mine if you like to feel the difference over a stockie box.
