Wheel Offsets - Valid Question!

This isn't just another 'will this offset fit' kind of question... well it kind of is... lol

I've worked out that the rims I like are 19*9.5 with an offset of 25mm. Comparing that to stock it seems to me that I will have 5mm less caliper clearance and an extra 45mm of wheel out to the gaurd.

My question is, will this stick out too much or be just about right? I can't remember the last time I worked on a Z with stock wheels so I'm a little unsure.

The fronts will extend out an extra 38mm and give me more caliper clearance so I gather it will be OK?

    Fingers Crossed!

I think you'll have to roll your guards.

how much does it cost to roll your guards? I found a nice offset calculator (through search) but is there any good sites for clearance on the ZX?

    Cheers, Andrew

    The ultimate goal...

I think is to find the fattest wheel, with the best offset to fill the guards right up to the point where it only just doesn't scrape. Looks sex if you get it right.

I think you'll find that the caliper clearance will depend alot on the wheels/spoke design, as you might find that you have more or less depending. If your going 19x9.5 with a +25 offset wheel you'll have to do a lot more then just roling the guards :p Have fun anyways Tom.

    This is a picture of a Z with 9.5" +37 all around. I don't think the +25s will fit.

Yeah I had the equivalent of 25 offset with 8.5's on the front with some excessive negative camber, I think it'd be pushing it to add another 11mm to the outside. Clearance aside, you'll have heavier steering and tramlining that far from stock, I'd go for 35ish if you really want 9.5's up front.

    Won't fit.

This picture is with my 9.5" with a +38 offset with 285/30 tyres.

Imagine those with another 13mm out the side. You could only do it with 265 or 255 stretched over.

Don't tell me that! I've got my heart set on these babies now!

    Size : 19 x 8.5(Front) & 19 x 9.5(Rear)
    Offset : 20mm(Front) & 25mm(Rear)

Need some very small widebody arches :)

    Sweet! They've got them in:

    Size : 19 x 8.5(front) & 19 x 9.5(rear)
    Offset : 32mm(front) & 35mm(rear)

They should just fit snuggly!

I'm running 9.5's on the rear with a 25 offset, and yes they do stick out the guards a smidge. However they are yet to scrub even with a hefty passenger in the back and a boot load full of stuff. My car is lower than standard too.

I got defected a while back but they didn't even look at the rims/tyres. They could have pulled me up for them sticking out and cos they are 19's but didn't for whatever reason.

Anyway, I don't intend for them to stay this way. I purchased them knowing that a wide body was on the way but in the interim i've been checking out all the different cars I see around looking for a nice little wheel arch add-on. I've seen some that might work nicely on the holden combo, and some others on the VRX Magna. There's plenty of vehicles with them around and surely one of them has to have a similar arch size. I will probly still look into it as is will be a while before the widebody gets fitted up and painted.

So is it possible? Yes, but if CAN get the correct offset then that's the better option i'd say. Having said that I think mine looks pretty tough as is, and will look even better with a mini flare! :D

9.5's with 38 offset just fit

so with 25 offset you will have to roll the gaurds

Just rolling the guards will not be enough, unless you have massive camber going on lol.

I was just saying that I am currently getting away with it, but I probably wouldn't recommend doing it permanently.
