Is there anyway of doing this, the mechanic has lost the keys and the key code is not in the glove box?
Dont you have spare keys in the UK? A locksmith should be able to help you out, probably the easiest and quickest way. Be sure you have the right paperwork so they know it is actually your car though...
when i replaced my key... i was told to take the drivers side door lock off and sometimes teh keycode is on that, i cant tell you if that was teh case because whilst inteh process i found the service manual to my car with teh key code, so if u have lots of spare time give that a go or apparently its on the side of the ignition in other cars, ur locksmith may know which.
key if the door is unlocked you can take the lock out of a door and take it to a lock smith and they can make a key for it.
One of my previous cars was a 1993 Nissan and it is Nissan practice to laser etch or stamp the key code on the drivers side door lock barrel. Once you get that and a key blank a locksmith will cut the key for you.
Take the lock out of the boot Will be easy for the locksmith to match key to. This will be a master key. Valet key only opens door and ignition. Difference between the two keys is only the offset of the parallel grooves. No change in the tooth pattern of the two keys
Cheers guys, I don't think I will be able to access the drivers door lock without damaging the trim It looks like the boot lock barrel is easiest, but if there is usually any barrel that has been changed this is one of the likely candidates!
