I was changing my fantastic new dash cluster LEDs back to the stock ones and I have dropped the holder and my old globe down the back of my dash.       Does anyone have a suggestion on how to quickly get it back out. I have tried to find it with a torch but cannot even see it. Please dont tell me to take the whole dash out if there is an easier way. I have to get it out tonight so I can return it to the supplier.:( :( :( :( :(

Ah, just pull the dash out. Won't even take a full day.

Did you take the panel under the dash off ? You could go for a drive on abumpy road and it might fall down on your feet.

Gee I feel like a big wuss

I did manage to see it and tried to get it out with double sided tape wrapped around my finger and clever me just managed to push it further down. I will get it out when I change the bulbs on the side pods. I figure its sitting just under the air con one. Thanks for all the encouragement guys:rolleyes: . I would have pulled the whole dash out if it wasnt my DD

    Yep the holder is plastic

but there are small metal tabs on the side where it makes the electical connection on the circuit board. There is a specialised tool for just such situations that has a trigger on one end of a long spring and a clamp on the other. Think I will have to get me one of those

I have one of those, has saved me a few times, trying to retrieve screws that have falled down into crevices.

I replaced mine with Led's too, twice lost the globes

Lost the globe assy actually 3-4 times down the dash, and the only way to get it out is to remove the underside part of the dash.
It is not difficult, I will try to tell you the process as I remember it:

open drivers door, Remove the small panel that the air flows through to your door, its one screw.
This reveals a screw that holds the large panel under the steering wheel. undo this and the others, two screws are located at the top corners of the panel and under as well as the two recessed screws. Remove the panel.
This will give you some access and you can prod around there.
If still no luck go further and remove the plastic aircon pipe that runs horizontally (to the door). It has an electrical sensor you will see, easily removed with 1/4 turn to allow complete removal.
This should give you plenty of access to find them, at this stage unbolt the cluster and lift it up still connected enough to access the holes to fit them and then putting it back together in reverse of removal (take notes or photos)
Good luck, I spent hours in three times changing globes around until I had the right combination, kept losing the globes too lol.
    Cheers

    Finger too big?

Have you tried a piece of Blu-tack on the end of a thin srewdriver, or piece of stiffish wire. Sometimes works. Make sure the blu-tack is nice and warm and sticky. And make sure it doesn't drop off the end and go down with the LED holder.
