My mates N/A keeps blowing high beam bulbs. I've checked the regulator, not putting out anything over 15V at any rev range. Does anyone have any ideas what else could cause this?

What bulbs is he using? Has he tried a range of them? Maybe try replacing the relay?

Not sure, will ask him tonight

not sure also why the relay would make them blow and would have thought the fuse would blow before the bulbs. Will ask about the bulb type and also see if he can change the relay, not with mine!!

    BigCol That's what she said...

Could it be that there is a higher rated fuse installed causing the relay to go first?

might be something as simple as touching the glass on the install.
They are a fiddly install, easy to smudge the glass with your finger, and that will create a hot spot and blow the bulb in quick time.

a sure fire bulb-blower. Use a fine cloth instead.

Also get good quality name brand. Do a search on here for member's success stories.

PS: Relay is *unlikely* to be the cause. If it was an electrical short, the fuse would blow 1st (unless there is an incorrect fuse - should be 15A.

    says he definately

used a cloth to handle the bulbs, not sure if there was anything on the cloth. Also used Lucas bulbs. Will check on Saturday afternoon when we re-install new ones.
