lol @ s-afc all ebay / off the shelf chips are generic tunes .......... some will give you power, some will take it, others could blow your Z up. this one more so cause its not realy a chip(eeprom), most likely a 2c resistor however that dosent make all chips bad. A well "chiped" ECU is as good as any aftermarket tuned ECU. Its a matter of finding someone with the knowledge and tools to do the tune. S-afc .. ok i know some people love them, but i think they are junk. S-AFC only address fueling doesnt do anything for timing etc. ok it may be better than a 2c resistor and does address the over fueling of the stock tune. if this is the extent of the tuning you want done fine. but at the end of the day if you go further. it will eventualy be come an expensive redundant bit of equipment. i recon the best thing you could do is save for a properly repmaped ECU on a dyno or an after market ECU and dyno tune. the old saying rings true with this, "you pay peanuts, you get monkeys" :bash:
I'd agree with you if she owned a TT, but she owns an NA, and realistically the gains from ecu tune over a SAFC will be minimal, as well as the effect of further mods to her NA unless she goes nuts. IMHO, just not worth the expense of a custom chip.
C'mon we only need 1 nut in the forum and we got Chrispy, but because our forum is special we have 2! N/A nuts! Chrispy and Retro !
Ohhhhh Your all mean and horrible. Your all just jealous that I can spend so much money and have practically nothing to show for it Ah well, the beast should be shooting flames in about 3 weeks. The new ECU has launch control
Lol Na its good to have some N/a fans, im quite keen to see your when its all done, plus its not too far for me to go
damn you Rollin_ I keep getting destracted by your sig... and the fact that i cant help but to think that your trying to say something pictorially with the refernce to "punt your missus" and Ken round-housing that set of tits... I mean chic....
Chips Chips are a waste of time and money risky and unless you get a custom chip tune forget it. Ebay is another double trouble and we have heaps of problems with customers buying Z32 new AFM's, and had heaps not work. R33 GTS-T Ebay Bock Choy radiators that don't go close to fitting and I even emailed the guy and still sells them. Momo copy steering wheels that fall apart in a few months etc etc. I love the extreme exaggerations on Ebay also like the hard pipe kits that claim to give 50% to 70% increase in air flow. That is gold.
Totally agree John, re Ebay, but >>> >>> chipping done by two responsible Members provides a safe and inexpensive upgrade to slightly modified J-spec Zeds.
READ THIS Hi Mia Here is what Caz told me when I asked the same Q... They are dangerous, I don't understand how they can sell them. They supply false information to your ecu resulting in advanced ignition timing and increased fuel. Thus greatly increasing the likelihood of detonation, particularly on a hot day. They are a gimmick and may be OK for the average Joes engine that has wider operating parameters, but its not worth the risk with our performance engines. Hope this helps?
