I have this alarm installed in my car, and currently it hasnt been started in bout 2 weeks because of issues i have with it.
If you do some research you will find that there are more complaints from people that are havving issues with their viper then from any other brand.
Also you might want to check if its approved by your insurer...

Having said that, dont get me wrong, it is a great alarm system and if price is around $300 i would recommend it.

Very interested, this one pretty much has all the features i've been looking for.

Someone here had an account with Rhino and was going to look into an alarm with similar specs as this but they never got back to me. Granted I didn't chase it up either.
    I think it was Rob260.

Might be worth asking him again as Rhino's are supposed to be very good and insurance approved if i'm not mistaken.

after the "radiostar" g/b for an alarm/immobiliser,

definitely no more such buys for me ... i will go for a buy/install package where one individual is accessible, reponsible and accountable for any issues .... i am currently stuck with a stuffed unit and, seemingly, no fall back.. some $500 later ...:( :( :( :(

.. and yep, rob260 is the "rhino" man ....

forgot to mention is that with the remote start feature - it may be difficult for insurance wise on a manual - but buy all means guys look into it with your insurers as it may be a risk on manuals

Cra-Z-Boy no nissan at all :(

You will find auto start on a manual or auto is illegal.
I had this alarm in my mrtt car and no insurance company will recognize it on a insurance policy.
Having said this it is a bloody great Alarm and would like in on the GB
What I have said in this post is true, I found out the hard way and back then it cost $1000 just for the alarm

Ok chaps, I've heard back from Rob so I have some more info for you to sift through regarding rhino alarms. He's given 3 options listed below. With regards to the viper it's looks good but seems to me to be high on flashyness but not real good and actual security (Immobilisation).

Unfortunatly it looks to be the same case for the similar spec rhino alarm, which is the one I like too which sucks. Rob recommends the second one below because it has excellent security etc and is insuranced approved where as the FM remote start ones are not.

The sim card one looks very interesting for it's security potential but again, it's not as flashy looking as I would like lol.

There are upgrades for most if not all of these alarms I believe, like auto window closing and glass break sensors etc.

Maybe it would be possible to SUPERSIZE the security of the first system, Rob what are our options with this?

    Anyway, here is robs speil.

Rhino have a similar product here http://www.rhinosecurity.com/content...a-brochure.pdf hat has
    LCD remot
    Turbo timer
    Remote start
    Remote paging
    Remote Status Check

But I would never reccomend one as with only one point of engine immobilsation and no insurance approval the security is minimal.

A better unit in my opinion is this one http://www.rhinosecurity.com/content...2-brochure.pdf that includes
    Black wiring
3 onbard (more secure than external relays) immob points
    Insurance approved
    Passive arming
    Glass break sensor

to mention but a few points. This unit ticks all the boxes in terms of the best in car security but is low on bling ie no remote start and no inbuilt turbo timer. But a heaps better alarm and this is what I would be fitting to my car.

They also do a unit that incorporates a GSM sim card here http://www.rhinosecurity.com/content...2-brochure.pdf with all the features (security-wise) of the RA above but also some nifty features such as
    SMS alerts
    SMS activation

In my opinion this is heaps better than the remote pager type alarms as they transmit on GSM network so the range is almost limitless.

So maybe all interested parties can have a look at these and express their interest, thoughts etc, and if we have a direction we are heading for then Rob can get some pricing for us, which he ASSURES me will be fantastic! LOL.

Also rob if you could list the upgrades/options for the above alarms, or PM me again if yould prefer.

    Ben
