    Hi everyone, i seem to be having abit of trouble with my baby. Had the car stop on me the other day and ended up having RACQ come to me. After the guy got over the shock of trying to work on the engine he managed to get me going. He believes that one or both O2 sensors may of died as the car is flooding itself. He got the car going again for me by blocking off the fuel inlet hose then obviously release it once the car started running.
    I have to apologise to everyone who reads this post as i have very little mechanical knowledge.
    If anyone could confirm or give more advise on this problem it would be very much appreciated.

    P.S would love to put a photo of my Z here but can't work out how to do it!

    with your problem, best thing to do is get the vehicle on conzult/datascan which is a diagnostics program which would tell you if your O2's are gone...

    there may be someone in your area that may have this program setup or look out for tech days in your state

    02 should not flood or stall the engine, it will though, run richer as the ecu is no longer getting signal from that 02, the ecu will then increase the fuel load. If you have been driving the car in that condition regularly over a period off time, I would say the plugs are rooted along with the 02 sensor. My advice is to replace both 02's at the same time.
    I found a way to up load screen size pic's to my garage, I did it attempting to load the correct size pic's, so sorry I cant help with that.:D

    Not the O2's, more likely a problem with fuel pressure/regulator/vac hoses.

    If you want to check without datascan it's very easy.

    Inside your car, right next to the thing you pull to pop the bonnet (near your feet) you'll see a small connector that looks like this:

    [IMG]

    Push a paperclip in those two holes (should be a green wire and a black/white wire usually) while the key is turned to "ON" but the engine isn't running. ie. Don't start the car, have the key in the position where all the dash lights light up though.

    After 3 seconds the Engine check light will begin to flash. Read the number of flashes. There will be a series of flashes like so:

    [IMG]

    Here you see 3 long flashes and 4 long flashes. This is a code 34 (3 + 4 easy no?)
    Count your flashes. I believe if you have more than one error it will show them all one after another, with a pause between each set.

    Here is a list of error codes.

    * 11: crank angle sensor circuit
    * 12: air flow meter circuit
    * 13: engine coolant temp. sensor circuit
    * 14: vehicle speed sensor circuit
    * 21: ignition signal circuit
    * 26: boost pressure sensor
    * 31: ECU
    * 32: EGR function
    * 33: exhaust gas sensor circuit (left)
    * 34: detonation sensor circuit
    * 35: exhaust gas temp. sensor circuit
    * 42: fuel temp. sensor circuit
    * 43: throttle position sensor circuit
    * 45: injector leak
    * 51: injector circuit
    * 53: exhaust gas sensor circuit (right)
    * 54: signal circuit from A/T control to ECU
    * 55: NO malfunctions in the above - this is the one that you want to get

    If either of the ones in bold come up your O2's may be dead.

    You can read more about checking the O2's here:
    http://www.twinturbo.net/ttnetfaq/FAQpages/O2s.html

    Though if it gives you an error and you aren't mechnically minded, it would be best to seek help from someone on the forum near you.

    Oh, and don't forget to take out the paperclip and turn off the car for a couple of secs to reset diagnostic mode.

    Cheers.
