Came across this today while looking for a dyno shop for our dyno day. VG30DETT converted to single turbo in an S13. 550HP at the rears at 26 PSI. Custom Plenum, Cima heads, and one huge turbo. Running a Microtech, and Ford XR6 ignition system. 1600cc injectors on the way, as they are converting to methanol Here are some pics.
Waiting for HighonBoost Better watch out, the "vg30 engine is crap" guys will be on here in a second to kindly let us know that this engine conversion is crap, and should have been done with an rb26 instead I am not one of those guys :zlove:
If you convert to single turbo... There are a lot more options on where to locate the turbo, and a sh!tload more room. More room = bigger turbo charger = more power... you do the math
That's what he said! He reckons the VG30DETT is a very under-rated engine (as in unpopular), whereas it has a huge potential vs it's displacement. And it's reliable. It was HIS motor of choice. Also He has it attached to a ford 4 spd Autobox Something to do with the fact the engine sits so far back in the engine bay. As soon as he saw the Zed, he was itchin to show someone who would appreciate it
seeee told you there was a silvia with a vg30 in it haha. single turbo=big turbo=wank factor... 90% only for 1/4miles and big number on a dyno... there is a silvia with a t88 putting out like 710hp or something. but yeah could also be for convienence of placement, i love TT setups personally..
there is more then one s13 with a vg30 in it. i have seen a few. i think there is/was one for sale on boost cruising or nissan silvia that wasnt finished yet
Yeah, I asked the Q too It's definately a VG30DETT with a custom plenum, Cima heads, and conversion to Single turbo. I would have loved to get a pic of underneath the car, to see some more of the turbo piping. They Plan to boost to 4 BAR. I'll let you all know if I hear something
Wonder where the PTU is mounted in the Cima. The timing covers would be good for those that have relocated theirs.
It doesn't have a PTU as such it uses an XR6T ignition system, and it's located up where the battery sits in our Zeds.
I meant where is it in the Cima; see how the timing cover doesn't have the mounting lugs? It would be nice to get some of those as a finishing touch to an already blinged up Z engine bay.
