Four-wheel alignment

    red32 You talkin' to me?

Got a proper 4-wheel alignment done last week (Thanks Rik and Box Hill Bob Jane T-Mart staff) to correct an uneven tyre-wear problem. Also got them to change the Goodyear Eagle F1's from front to rear and put the rear Dunlop Sp3000A's on the front, because I was not happy with the washout/understeer that I was experiencing with the F1's on the front (has anyone else had this problem?).

Drove to work Friday night along the usual twisty route (fun/joy before getting sensible), and the turn-in was soooo much better that I damn near put the car into the curb on the first serious bend that I came to (for those familiar with the area, the left-hander just past the hockey pitch on Yan Yean Road, heading North from the lights at the Diamond Creek Rd intersection)!

I can't say whether the change is due to the alignment or the tyre change, or both, but Ker-riste, the improvement in handling is incredible.

    Thanks again, Rik!

    BigCol That's what she said...

I haven't had any issues with the Eagle F1's at all.

My experience was exactly the opposite - I had old hard compound Dunlops (can't remember model number) on my car when I bought it, and the rear end would lose traction in the dry at 80km/h changing from 3rd into 4th in my auto NA). Since changing to the Eagles I have had to try really hard to break traction, and I've always had much more confidence on the GOR with them. The steering just seems more true, but who knows.

In fact I'll go as far as to say that if I know they are being phased out, I'll buy a spare set of rims & get eagles on them, plus get the ones on my car re-shod. I just luv 'em.

    Another satisfied customer here.

Rik fixed up a bad alignment (done by a different company - amateurs ) and a puncture.

It's always good to know where the pros work.

    Thanks Riko.

Yep I'm another happy bob jane box hill customer. Rik and Micky are really good to the forum members. I'm gonna take mum and dad's cars in for some new tyres too.

I had firestones on my dd and then switched to the dunlop sp3000a and found them very floaty and lack of feeling also a bit noisy .
I have just swiched the rear tyres to falkons which seem good more feel and grip than the dunlops.Although the Dunlops seem to wear much better.
I have Sumitomo on the z and I think they are much more direct and better grip than the dunlop and falkons.
I will try Box Hill Bob jane for the next alignment as the local ones here are not that crash hot.

    awww shuks

    thanks for the recommendation!

I've currently just stopped fitting the new tyres to pete (wykked) new wheels.
Look the bomb, i'll have to take a photo of it.

By the way, i've now decided that i'm not doing this for YOU anymore, i'm doing it for ME. ie, i want to know when i buy another zed that i've 1) seen it before 2)everything is ok with it 3) you won't be able to say "i've just spent $4bil on wheel etc" coz i know what you paid for em...

    speaking of wheels.
A lady rang me up just before saying she has a set of white enkei alloys for sale of her GTS-T, i told her to post them up here!

I'll continue helping out (and posting crap) as long as you guys look after your zeds.
Oh yeah, Carl, i don't know if you noticed, but i got most of the glue and crap off where your zed badge was. i know i should of asked, but i didn't (so ner) i hope you see the difference

    AAAARRRRRRGGGHHHHH

Feel like such a friggin idiot.
I'm obviously trying to build a good rapport with this forum and do all the right things to make sure i look after everyone with wheels n tyres.

Peter's car has now got the wheels and tyres on, done well, no scratches all finished 100%, however. my alignment machine just shorted out.
So now i'm replacing the camera heads ($1000 per camera)

I'm not fussed too much about the camera, as that stuff happens.
I'm just bloody irritable coz i've just made an hour job into a 4 hour job.
    Sorry jen!

i'll have to fix the dint in the wall soon, it's about the size of my head.

Yeah had all 4 wheels aligned properly a while ago and it made a massive difference. Cant remember the numbers now but the rear wheels were not aligned at all so the car used to drift to the left.
I also use the Eagle F1 tyres, they are pretty good when new but become very ordinary after about 60% wear.
