My Lights warning lamp comes on intermittently , Checked all the rear bulb connection and all good . When I do the a base idle adjustment in datascan the old boost gauge moves and the lamp flashes . Also when braking and at certain idle speeds it almost sounds like the warning buzzer is trying to chime . When the Light lamp comes on the alternator lamp also glows dimmly . this is weird
Alert- Thread hijackers!!! Lets get it back to the title. Could be alternator volt regulator dying. You get very weird results with the voltage regulator failing. What does it show in datascan display? ALso could be wiring short in instrument cluster. Any work to under dash recently?
I think Josh (Loud'n'Proud) had this same problem. Try searching for his thread on it to see if he fixed it or maybe PM him?
No thread hi-jack, poor 'ol Sweetchuck has to be the unluckiest, hardest working Zed engine man around, good to hear he's back, was concerned after some earlier posts that he had simply given up. Big thumbs up ( if we had one)
datascan shows a healthy stable 13.4 volts . Did some work in the dash when installing PC display , I'll backtrack .
Check your fuses Sounds like a blown fuse, Or pc wired to wrong connections,or bad plug connectionin dash.
I had the 'buzzer' noise trying to come on, ended up being my aircon temp fan thing in roof. The bearing was gunked up with crud and wouldn't turn properly and would make a buzzing sound. The alternator light coming on dimmly sounds like a dodgy earth somewhere. Is your dash cluster in good nick?
I recon I have short somewhere or some resistance in a loom . the old boost guage is wavering around and its not even hooked up.could be a clue.
Mine has the same thing happening [Lets see the light warning light is on and the altenater light very dimly. My troubles started when I increased boost and my boost gauge quit working. I noted one day when I got the boost gauge (stock) to bounce a little that the light went out when it hit a certain point. I feel it has something to do with this circuit but havn't fully resolved it yet. What a pain in the ass! How does one completely disconnect the boost gauge including electronics, I beleive the key to this trouble is there. Tango
