Hi zeders i recently put in oil cooler, but have noticed oil pressure drop i know our zeds have oil pressure read out probs on the gauge, and in the past i replaced sender unit and had checked at the mechanic's with no change on the reading, sitting around 4 on start up and dropping slightly at normal running temp, but since putting the oil cooler in i have noticed it will go to 4 on start up and drop below first line on gauge at normal running temp i was running shell helix Ultra 5w-40 but i have changed to shell hellix plus 15w-50 but pressure read out has not changed. Is it normal to lose pressure when running oil cooler cheers FISH:zlove:

Is it a larger oil cooler? Or replacement stock? Maybe the oil is being cooled better so isn't as thick and doesn't need to be kept at a high pressure or something? Mine will sometimes drop to the very first line or below while I drive around normally. If I plant my foot it will rise again but then drops back down on cruising. Does this happen with yours too? BTW, no oil leaks in the morning when you move the car?

Yer guys i think your right the crap gauge, maybe i will run a seperate gauge and see how this goes, there are no leaks so all is tight. i will get another pressure test to play it safe though cheers FISH:zlove:

if it is a larger than stock unit you will have a pressure drop

because the oil pump has to pump the oil further / harder so it loses a little pressure......
i cant see it damging the engine if its just a little loss, but anything major i would be concerned about personally...ps stock gauge is shit, buy a real oil pressure gauge to fing out what your cars really doing....:D
