just wondering is there a way 2 remove the rear hicas solenoid, should i unplug it? also whats the best way 2 bleed the ps system, my steering is very heavy after the TT pump mod
you've undone the 3 nuts that's holding the rear solenoid on so you should just be able to yank it off now simmo....
BLEEDING Jack the front end of the car up in the air, put it on stands. Turn it on, go between full lock Left and Right, a number of times. Check fluid . add if nessary. and yeah.. just keep working it untill you feel its right.
thanks fellas, i gave the unit some "tough love" and she popped out, now i just need 2 sort my steering out or im gonna have arms like popeye
ok well ive done that about 10 times now. steering is still really heavcy, there are no ps leaks anywhere. whats the go.. is there such a thing as Hicas safe mode?
Yes. If the HICAS detects an error it goes into a safe mode where the steering is heavy at all speeds.
you didn't de-vane your pump. the thing you removed is some type of valve. the vanes are small rectangular bits of metal that are located around the impeller. either way im not sure that this is whats causing your heavy steering
hmm ok . well i have followed the tech article provided by wok burner. anyone else suffering the same issues?
I have suffered no ill affects since removing the hicas. I didn't de-vane the pump, simply plugged the redundant outlet at the pump. My steering feels the same as it did before the removal, definately not to heavy. Perhaps your pump is not building enough pressure? It may have a damaged vane and is allowing some internal bleeding?
HELP HELP HELP has anyone actually done this mod before, the guys over at 300zx.co.uk http://www.300zx.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=89300 seem to think ive done the wrong thing. also the fellas at twinturbo.net do aswell http://www.twinturbo.net/net/viewmsg.aspx?forum=technical&msg_id=1019653 THIS SUCKS.. SOME1 HELP
Can you re-assemble your pump, before the removal of valve (wokburners tech) to it's original state? If so, do this and test to see if the steering returns to normal operation. I used the banjo bolt with a tubular sleeve to cover the exposed outlet in the bolt, fitted copper washers to both ends of the sleeve and bolted it to the hicas-out on the pump to seal it up.
i guess i could but pump is in the car atm.. are u saying take the pump appart, reinsert check valve and spring and just block that pipe off?
