Hi all, just thought id pop on here and say hello. Bought a Black 1989 300zx twin turbo manual for $10000 last thursday. Freaking stoked with it. Have to say it is a little on the bling side with wheels as its rolling on 20s. Was on the fence about whether to leave them on or not. Love them now (what 5 days later??) Had a full check done on it, mechanically engine wise it seems to be running fine. it does need a few bushes replaced. Basically not alot done to it, Has Bov's, K&N Pod filter (fitted today, had some cruddy one on it), Manual boost controller (Currently running 11psi) Turbo timer and adjustable suspension. Was happy to see it had alot of its extras still intact such as the internal targa covers. Only real damage is on the front bar to the right of the number plate, someone with a rather large cannon on theyre car reversed into it and broke through. Ive wanted a zed for such a long time. Samo18 is my best mate and has been for years. He got one, now i got one. He was so proud when he helped me out with the car the other night. ahahah good stuff. Awesome to be a part of it. Here is a few pics
Welcome and well done we all know that Black 89 TTs ROCK. I hope it goes well for ya. Hope to see you on a cruise and join us for dinner some time. Cheers Geoff
Congrats, Congrats Arn, You done well and for a good price 2!!!! Just curous, your profile says Brisie but the cars plates are NSW. Did u get it from NSW or did you do a Typo???
Brissie.... Just to clear it up straight away. The car is currently registered to NSW however i am in QLD just north of brisbane. The guy i bought the car from had moved up from NSW about 2 months ago. It will be transferred to QLD shortly.
Wow you got a lot of car for your money, I just got mine too was $8000. I want to be optimistic but then going by the stuff ive seen on the forums i bet Im gonna spend another 2k in the workshop just to get it running right. Make sure you lock it away from vandals and thieves.
it's good to see the black army growing weekly, welcome to the forum, Z's are such a pleasure to drive, hope you have plenty of trouble free motoring,(fingers crossed)

yes yes it was yes i bought it from trent. do you know him do you? Also cannot wait for the first cruise. And I live in Pine rivers. Hope that helps. Off to do some cleaning and few small things for the zed. Thanks for the warm reception!!!!!!!!!!!!:zlove:
Welcome aboard! A nice looking car. I am privileged to have two Zeds. One of them has full front and back moulded mud-flaps, and the other has none. Both look OK, but I have a preference for the without the add-ons. Yours has a front set only so it looks a little funny, probably only to me. I have been thinking about wheels for ever. First I decided a modest increase to 17" was the way to go, then I thought maybe a bit bigger to 18". Your 20" wheels look sensational, so I am back in the think tank again. How is the ride on 20s? With tyres the thickness of a black stripe I am thinking maybe they wouldn't do my haemorrhoids any good. You need to be aware of the rolling radius of the tyre/wheel combination, as it can make your speedo reading inaccurate. If you do the mathematics, you will get numbers like this for 20" wheels. Tyre Size_____Stock Speedo is slow by 225/35_____________5.4% 235/35_____________6.5% 245/35_____________7.6% 255/35_____________8.7% 265/35_____________9.8% 275/30_____________6.6% 275/40____________15.3% Some of those numbers are more than enough to get you booked when you were thinking you were OK. Be careful, or get your speedo recalibrated. Good luck with the car.
My wife's uncle owned it before trent and yeah it went like the shower of shit then but when he got it he did more and went quicker again so ive heard
agreed. yes it seems fairly quick. havent had all that much experience with them so dont know how it would stack up against others. its a nice ride. And as for the wheels being 20. Yes my speedo seems to b out by about 10% but the ride is honestly quick nice. hole in the road and things of the likeness are pretty cruddy. but yea all in all they are good.
