Nah mate, he doesn't have all that stuff as said above. Best way to see it would be to get a BRIGHT torch, a toothbrush and some metho.:p Its located on the drivers side block right at the back, and wil be really hard to see. You'll need to move all the wires and cables out the way aswell to make it easier.Theres a thing in the Tech section about it, will help you find it. You'll need to scrub it with the toothbrush and metho just to be able to see it. Best if someone near can give you a hand as its a bitch to find with the engine in the car.

I believe engine no. should be VG XX XXXXXXA where X = numeric, A = alpha. At least, that's what's on my engineering certificate (I'm not going to check the engine no. in person).

The first 2 XX may be 30 - you have to look further across.

It's possible that Nissan may have added a digit in the XXXXXX if they produced more than 100,000 motors, (who knows). Or is that 2,600,000 ???

    Cheers,

    difference between chassis and engine....

The number you describe is the VIN chassis number. The engine number is different and has no bearing on the VIN chassis number. In fact, the engine number doesnt even tell you what year your engine was manufactured.

    Cheers

    Hi Mark,

sorry, not VIN no. but engine no.

VIN no. for my import is 6U9000GCZ32 XXXXXX

Engine no. is VG 30 XXXXXXA

(X and A as in previous post).

Although, having said this, some really early imported vehicles have interesting engine/VIN no.s recorded for registration purposes while Aussie motor registries were getting familiar with imports.

    Cheers,

    Peter
