Hi Guys, have installed the new frontmount intercooler on my 300ZX.

    Need to know -

what type of fittings should I use for new pod filter setup?

what pod filter brand and model number should I use?

do I still need to use old sensor box?

Any assistance would be most appreciated and if you have any images of the way you have done it could you please email me at james@booknow.tv with attached images.

    Regards

    fmic

i am installing an fmic very soon as well, so will be checking this thread with interest, as regards the air flow meter , as far as i know it is a required piece of electronics for the engine management system, in other words you have to have it connected, i've been looking at the HKS pod filters as they seem to be much "flatter" than most of the others, i have an apexi at the moment and there is no way that it will fit when the fmic is installed,
    cheers

    Hey Skeeter47,

When i had my front mount put in they put a K&N POD. Ill go have a look now wats the model number. Regarding the AirFlow Sensor, that needs to be left in there, i had issues with it only latly, I have a Apexi Power FC and it still cant be overred. It would though depend on ur EMS. (Though if stock, needs to remain). Im going to rip her out of the garage now and take some snaps for you.

Though in saying that regrarding the Z32 Airflow Sensors, they say there apparently the best ever made, i know a few people though my machanic that own 10 second R34 GTR's and they advised me they had major airflow issues and the answer was a Z32 Sensor..... Bit of FYI.

I'll get those photos for you now.

Hi Guys, have posted some images on my brother's Super Pursuit website for you to view.

Go to the following link -

    http://www.superpursuit.info/intercooler.htm

Have also put on my new front bar - had to really cut some out of it to get the intercooler to fit in neatly.

    Any comments appreciated -

    Ciao - Skeeter47

    Brand of pod filter

Issue 51 of auto salon magazine(think its the latest one) have done a filtration and flow test on 10 different brands of pod filters. Anyway heres what they came up with.
AEM Dryflow - 9th best flow rate at 519.2 cfm and 3rd best filtration
A'PEXI Power Intake- 7th best at 533.3 cfm and 6th best filtration
HKS Direct Drive - 6th best flow at 539.6 cfm and 9th best filtration
    K&N RR-3301 - 4th best flow at 579.6 cfm and 1st best in filtration
Redline Airforce 1 - 2nd best flow at 596.9 cfm and 10th best filtration
Simota Power Stack - 3rd best flow at 594.2 cfm and 5th best filtration
Tenzo - 8th best flow at 522.8 cfm and 4th best filtration
3A Racing - 1st best flow at 601.2 cfm and 2nd best filtration
Trust Airinx - 5th best flow at 554.7 cfm and 7th best filtration
No name Trust ripoff - 10th best flow at 473.3 cfm and 8th best filtration
I guess that doesnt really help with what finding the right size to fit your car but gives a good idea about with pods offer the best flow and best filtration. Good luck with it ;)

    CUT OUT..

If u look @ my bros web site u will c the front bar on there.. I can't remember the name of it, but it was a group buy 1... I had 2 cut about 3'' out of the front opening 2 allow the new fmic 2 sit in properly, also cut a bit out of the side vents... It went 2gether fairly easy.... My only problem @the moment is trying 2 find a 90% x 80mm elbow 2 fit into the new filter pod assembly..If any 1 can tell me where i can get this from i would be greatly pleased.. thanks skeeter47....

    Some Possible Options Maybe??

I figured that I wouldn't be jacking this thread by asking the same sort of question. Since I've read that one of the first steps to coaxing a liitle better umph out of our engines is to do an after market intake and exhaust/catback system. I already have an HKS Super Dragger Catback (which I'd love to get rid of and return to a more oem look). Having done a bit of searching I've come up with 3 possible candidates and would like to hear anyones pros/cons on these.

    JWT PopCharger
    [IMG]
    This system includes:
    Pop Charger Intake Filter (Blue)
    Aluminum Velocity Stack Ring
    CARB Approval Label
This intake system has been independantly Dyno Tested to gain 8.7HP to the Wheels on a Non-Turbo and 18.6RWHP on the Twin-Turbo. In some case's up to 20+ RWHP on the TT!

    300ZX 90-96 ADAPTER WITH K&N AIR FILTER
    [IMG]
Improve the performance of your vehicle with "OTTO-R" air intake system adapter kit. This system will increase the efficiency of the airflow in your vehicle, which ultimately leads to an increase 8-15 horsepower. This system features a genuine K&N air filter kit, providing lightweight performance with style in mind. It conducts less heat than the factory air box and maximizes air flow to increase the vehicle's power output throughout it's RPM range.
It's a direct plug and play bolt on part!
All the parts required for installation are already included in this set!

Z32 ZX300 Fairlady Air Filter Intake Kit HKS Style
    [IMG]
(Sorry, best pic that could be copied over)
    Kit includes;
1x HKS Style Forged Power Flow Unit
2x HKS Power Flow Air Filters
1x Connecting kit (silicone hoses and clamps)

Like I said, your pro's and cons on these would be appreciated. cheers,
    John
