If you can't afford the insurance, you can't afford the car. Simple as that.
I'm 19 with a Z TT. You can afford it depending on what you are willing to give up for it.

true, but if u taking mitchov's advise, just hope u dont prang it. If you are having touble saving money for ya Zed, simply do wat i did (even other members here) set up another bank account just for ya zed, and money init weekly or however you want to do it. u;d be surprise how much u rack up in a year of 6months etc :D

If you get third party property it is cheaper and everything but you and your car is covered. Comprehensive covers everyone and everything including you and yur car. If you do not have one of these and hit something very expensive you will be paying for it out of your own pocket for years.
Do not tell any lies when filling out the forms. If they find out about it your insurer will not pay up and your insurance is worthless. If your car is a grey import make sure that it is clearly stated otherwise they will not pay.

There are insurers who will insure 18 yo drivers try "Just Car", "Unique" for starters. Comprehensive will be very expensive. You need to make a decision about wether you can afford to lose your car if you prang it. Bear in mind that most young drivers have accidents. I am not putting them down it is simply a fact of life.

    Z + no insurance?

lol....why not walk the plank and hope for the best too...

18 yo with a TT will be lookin gat about 4500$ full comp. There is no way to do a 'under parents name / 10% driver' with an import. Insurance these days ask 'who is the youngest driver of the car'.

We have all played this game many times. And many posts and threads have been done.

TT + P plates dont mix.

Especially from next year heh! Yay for new P plater laws. Damn hoons.

Im 19 and full comp insurance on my NA, car is valued at $15,000 and i pay $1500 a year i think it is? I got it when i was 18 and was on $1600 to start with but its gone down.

I dont know why people buy a $13,000 sports car and not insure it aye... no offence to you guys out there, but i think thats just asking for trouble... all my cars are insured over the phone before i drove it off the car yard or front yard of the last owner.

It depends on how you drive. If you think you can restrain yourself then 3rd party might be ok for you. That's the option I went (21 yrs old) since the cost of comprehensive would cost the same as a new Z after a few yrs. Besides which, apart from writing it off, most minor prangs would cost less than the insurance to fix. I think my insurance is something around 200-400ish 3rd party RAC and I drive a TT.

    Vehicle 1990 300ZX NA,
    Options
    Lowered King springs
    Tinted windows
    Keyless entry with immobiliser/alarm.

I'm a mature driver on rating 1. $680pa which covers my wife(rating 1) and my 20 year daughter (rating 5). When chuckY_ (my son) gets his license premiums will rise to $863pa based on the youngest driver (rating 6).

Standard excess $350 for drivers over 25
Standard excess plus $600 for drivers under 21
Standard excess plus $300 for drivers 21 to 25

As the years go by and my kids have no at fault accidents, because they are linked to my insurance, their ratings improve each year which helps when they go to get comprehensive insurance for themselves. I own 4 cars ATM (soon to be 5) and are all in my name with the kids as nominated drivers.
Insurance company is Australian Unity, under written by CGU.

Tried Just car and they wanted about $3000pa with excess of $1500 when chuckY_ gets his license. Others were just as bad.

    Hope this helps,
    Bryan

I have 3rd party property fire and theft with Justcar.

NA J-spec usual mods - suspension, mags, stereo, exhaust, pod, alarm/immobiliser,

Costs approx $400 . Not sure if the price is different for a J-spec or Aus-spec but I do know that a lot of companies won't insure an imported Z32 yet will insure an Aussie delivered Z32.

I think that most people should have at least 3rd party property. As my dad says what happens if you somehow write off a new commodore in an accident Can you afford to pay out $30,000?

Insurance is a must. I am currently searching for a better deal for comprehensive. I am 24 in QLD.
