At Mindarie Custom Exhaust, with a new result. I have 2 graphs to show you. One is before dump pipes and lightweight flywheel, and the other naturally with TuneAgent dumps & lightweight flywheel. Both on the same dyno Both graphs at 14.5PSI boost. I'll let the graphs show the difference. and ignore the AFR on the new run, I know why its spiking as boost comes in that is sorted now. Old Run, New Run, So thats 259.951 RWKW or 260 RWKW *round up* Cmon GIMMIE THAT 260 haha Car has 163,000 kays on the clock not bad aye.
yeah was good to come down and watch your couple of runs.... the young dude was a bit too enthusiastic for my liking... have to buy my own dyno.. 8)
Nice result mate... Great effort for 1 bar. I'd say it's almost at maximum. Can't believe how much of a jump a lightened flywheel + dumps make. Are those TuneAgent's 2.5" or 3" in diameter? Cheers Rob.
Wow, that's awesom Scott! Nearly 40hp difference with dumps and flywheel! Wow! I didn't think that a lightened flywheel would aid in rear wheel power though, as it's a form of "stored energy" rather than lost energy like you would get if your a/c was turned on... That's a great result from stock snails mate. well done!
yeah I am not sure if the flywheel would affect peak power much, but I thought i would list it as its the only things I have done since the 2 runs.
Really good result for you there Scott, intresting with the lightweigth flywheel i have a 4.5g one going in mine
Pic of her on the dyno But its shit quality haha. Made like 5 or so runs on the dyno and each time the power figure was going up a little bit more lol. consistent power but.
Flywheel will make a big difference Usually in the extra 20HP area, similar to a UD Pulley. Benny the stored energy you are refering to is more related to cruising speed rather than top end power. When you lighten rotating mass, it also reduces the amount of kinetic energy stored, so effectively you will burn slightly more fuel to retain the same load. Great result though Scotty, definitely puts you up there with the stock snail warriors!
nah thats rubbish.. it takes a shit load of energy to spin a heavy flywheel up to 7300rpm.. and yes.. that power gets stored into the flywheel as inertia rather than being transfered to the wheels and no it does not use more fuel at crusiing.. heavy flywheel makes the car easier to launch as the stored energy is transfered to the gearbox did you fix the EGR being blown open at high boost scoptty?that could also explain the difference?
nice numbers i'm thinking ud pulley / lightened flywheel will have most impact at max torque. this will be when engine is accelerating quickest, so less mass to accel, the better. though it might change the point where max torque occurs, but not by much if any.
cool.. good news.. i have the same fly and dumps too(my dumps are better now though).. hehe.. i guess that explains my good run down at the motorplex.. swoit! shoulda really dynoed her before i pulled the engine
Nice figures... lets see if you can beat me around Barbagallo tomorrow! ...since you're pushing 70 odd rwhp more than me!
SparkPlug blow out And for any one that cares, I was getting sparkplug blow out in the UPPER RPM's You can see this when it starts randomly shooting out thick puffs of black smoke from the exhaust while going nuts on the dyno. instead of a steady stream. I am told they don?t do iriiridium?s any lower gap than .8MM and i was told you cant gap them your self as it damages them. So iam going to have to move to a copper plug and gap them lower, maybe some more power to be had yet Or maybe I need a ignition amplifier thing.
.8 should be fine.. i plan on running .8 @20psi.. hmmm ive gapped irridium and platinums.. the gap changes during transport theyre never right.. so i always give em a bit of adjustment
I thought u had a whole new system made up? or is this before the turbo upgrade? what are you doing for dumps with the gt28r's ?
had a full system made up before.. taking the car back to MCE to get them to mate my system up to the tektrader dumps
