    Subs

I had 2 12s in my last car with a number of different speakers in them at different times but i always went with ones that came highly recommended from car audio installers. When i bought my zed it had a single 10 and the difference in sound quality was amazing it does not have the same punch as the 12s but the quality of the sound is loads better i would definitely recommend 2 10s rather than 12s and as for differences in price as per last post... from my experiences i have found that the boxs for 10s and 12s are the same just with a different size hole in it so there is no difference in cost there and the speakers were generally no more than 40-50 dollars difference. For the music you are playing which i also listen too from my experience 10s would give you better sound

i would like to know what the specs of this setup you have there because dd subs would have to be one of the best branded subs out there today...they have hugggeeee handling rates and will totally destroy many subs out there....and both of one amp? please let me know what specs you are running there....

and no 10'z aint for people who are cheap....personally i prefer the sound that comes out of these subs, and they still are very costly if your looking for a quality one....alot of the quality 10'z are close or even the same price tag of their bigger 12'z....

you must be entering competitions etc to have both those dd subs running at full power? ive heard these subs are seriously the make me sick litrally....

Cookie what ever you do you dont want to have the speakers in the same box as the subs are in....the air coming from the woofers will destroy the speakers woofer in time, and also you wont be getting a good sound off the speakers as they would be moving to unwanted bass responses from the subs air its pushing....

    While DD are very good...

We're talking about a budget system here. BTW i dissagree with your statement about 10" being a tight ass sub. Explain why you'll benifit by buying a 12" sub over a 10" sub?

Ok maybe i said the wrong thing about 10" subs but i think that if you really want good sounding bass in your car then good 12" subs will give you that and they can go between fast beat dance and smooth RnB (i listen to all types) but when i was getting my stuff put in the guy asked what sort of music do i listen to i told him DnB RnB and hardcore techno he said that i would go for 12" beacuse the 10" hardly have enuff frequency to keep up with fast beat techno when it is at max power

for anyone that has any serious enquiries on what to get for and audio system and wants an honest professional answer then email George @ info@adelaideprosound.com.au
he will tell you what you need for your price range and this guy has the knowledge as he used to be state rep for soundstream:thumbsup::thumbsup:

    how i see it

I still dissagree.... I've heard 10" subs that beat 12" subs in every way shape and form. And "good sounding bass" is in the ear of the auditioner. For example, i'm the kind of person that likes a nice tight punchy sort of bass, so thats what i would look for, something like this doesn't have to be extremely loud, and cause mini earthquakes where ever i travel. How ever, a friend of mine loves deep low loose bass, the kind where you see a sub flapping around everywhere vibrating the crap out of everything. Different strokes for different strokes. To elaborate further on your last post, A sub has no frequency, it does however reproduce a frequency, which initially comes from your source unit (ie. cd player), so when you say a 10" sub doesn't have enough frequency, this is infact an incorrect statement, however, if you ment that a 10" sub wouldn't be able to handle frequency's in music such as RnB, then i would agree with you to a point. This is where size often comes into the equasion. In most cases, a larger sub will be more efficient at a lower frequency, and not to mention louder, due to a larger surface area moving air.

    BTW, nice setup!

and to elaborate further on the $1000 budget, cookie, J-car is your friend! Their products are of decent quality, and their prices are even better, especially on a budget system. Can i also recommmend that you buy the best cable you can afford, it really does make a difference

    Regards
    Lloyd
