i am absolutely stoked with the results it was installed and tuned by UAS who i think did an excellent job. i was a bit worried after the first run with no tuning done yet when it made only 117rwkw. apparently it was running ridiculously rich (off the graph Air/Fuel ratio) for some reason, was getting a code 55 on conzult. the final result was achieved with standard ignition timing as well (15deg). the car is so different to drive. really responsive, espescially higher in the rev range. 2nd gear pulls really fast to 100km/h. freeway on ramps were heaps of fun on the way back home:thumbsup: got some extractors coming in as well in a couple of weeks. so i am hoping to get a mid 140's for the next run. after that gonna go for that NA drag record:zlove: gotta say i just LOVE my zed at the moment! Also i can't remember who does the dyno list but could i please be added. Cookie
nice work thats pretty good for a NA dude hope with the extractors on you will reach the 140 mark top work Nath
Nice result James... Fleet maintains the dyno list and you are very near the top for a NA. Cliff:thumbsup:
couple of other benefits i noticed exhaust is heaps cleaner, it used to have piles of carbon pouring out when i flattened it, sounds better too, under load sounds almost like a jet engine:zlove::zlove::zlove:
that reminds me i have to get around to > getting an update on mine need some new plugs first thou and will get an SAFC once i get my control arms nice figure thou i should pull well over 150 once i get mine still yet to get to the drags thou, ill get there one day
safc II itself is about $400 the normal AFC's like ports was talking about are about $100, like he said. they do the exact same thing, just don't look as cool, and only have 5 adjustment points instead of 8, which means more interpolation, but not that much. i paid for mine to be installed, but apparently it is really easy, so i reckon have a go yourself, like i should have done. anyway, it cost $360 installed and dyno tuned. definately get it tuned on the dyno, worth every cent. probably only need an hour for the tune on the dyno 1.5 tops. hope that helps
now i want one... those are great results mate! john told me i should get one too as mine was running heaps rich last time i was there. so total cost was $760? (400+360), coz i thought it was over $1000 for one of those. i might be mistaken.
SAFCII i just purchased one this week and will get it installed in a week or so, i bought mine on the forum but there are always units on ebay approx 300 for a 2nd hand or 400 of a new , fitting in wa is approx 150 and tune was also 150, my mechanic said it will be the best thing i purchase as z is running rich ,can't wait to get it fitted, will keep in touch.
yeah, around $760 all up i got 22 rwkw and heaps better fuel economy. can't recommend it highly enough
Nice KW number Cookie..... Bloody hell, looks like i'll have to squeeze some more juice out of my NA, 136.6rwkw just isn't enough anymore.
Time to beat: Nice figures, once again a properly tuned SAFC on an NA has proved air/fuel ratios do make a large difference. Would never drive a zed without one unless aftermarket ecu setup. Finally some of you NA guys are starting to get it. Well done Cookie nice figures! Trayns. Oh yeah, Fleet I think you should add my time to the 300zx drag list. Timeslip
my goal is to go under that trayns, aiming for a low 14's 14.2 would be really nice, but i know i will struggle to get there.
Will add tonight Trayns, long time no hear mate!! I'm racing at QR this saturday if you want catch up.
Great stuff James. That time of Trayns will be a hard one to beat, set with the lightest of the 300zx available, the 2 seater slicktop NA. The middle of winter will be your best chance, I will be hoping for mid 12s then.
