    hey guys,
just after some opinions on my small dillema.

If you had your time again, would you get the same configuration zed as you do now ie. 2 seater or 2+2, and why?

I used to have a 2 seater, and miss my beloved zed more than anything, which is why i'm going to buy another one!

I understand the rear seat in the 2+2 is bloody small, but really i'm interested in hearing from the 2+2 people that wouldn't be without the rear seat.

thanks for any input, its much appreciated!

    regards
    Lloyd

if going again, i would definitely go 2+2 .. simply for the convenience

of the back seat space for dumping all sorts of stuff .. provided, of course, it could also handle 2 sets of golf clubs ....!!!!:thumbsup::LOL::LOL::wacko::unsure:

    I prefer....

the look of the 2 seater but the practicality of the 2+2. The zed is a keeper for me, and while the 2 seater is fun while your young and single, as soon as little kiddies come around its usefullness drops significantly. I am in the scenario now where I am getting married this year, and then little kiddies will follow a few years down the track. When the kiddies do arrive, driving the zed around with wife and kiddies wont be possible. Which means it will sit in the garage while we take the camry instead...:)

    Cheers

    Like you I couldn't decide

So I have one of each!
But seriously, I like the balanced shape of the 2+2 with its slightly longer wheelbase. I have four kids and it's more flexible as I can carry up to 3 kids with me on the odd occasion. (they always jump at the chance) I can't do that with the 2-seater.
But I like the 2-seater also, but for different reasons. It rarely gets a run, but is a joy whenever I take it out.
I'd say for flexibility, go for a manual 2+2, but be sure it's a TT. The rear seats are cramped, but at least you can squeeze the odd passenger in if you have to (for a short trip). Performance wise, there's little in it. The extra 50 or 60 kgs is hardly noticeable and easily compensated for with a minor engine tweak.

    room for targas?

does anyone have a prefference for storing the targa tops? I remember in my 2 seater with a sub box in the boot, it sucked trying to find a decent place to put the targa's. I was always worried about hving one go through the windscreen if i stopped suddenly LOL.

    Nope...

I have a sub in my 2 seater but I designed it so I still had plenty of boot space and the targas fit without problems...:)

I prefer the coupe (for a number of reasons).......

I think it is more nimble (better change of direction in the twisty stuff),

it has more leg room (very important for those of us NOT height impaired),

I have NO use for "kiddie seats" (my kids are bigger than I am)

and unless you carry half your wardrobe with you when you go away, there is more than enough room in a coupe for a lot of gear (I've had 5 wheels and tyres in the coupe)

Now, having said all that, unless you have a particular need for a 2+2 then I would let the car decide the configuration you get. If you can find a GOOD example with all the other options you desire (manual/auto, NA/TT etc) then buy it and that is how you decide whether you get a coupe or a 2+2

After all, a zed is a zed :zlove:

    leg room

Leg room is an issue for me, since i'm about 6'5". I found the 2 seater to be comfortable, but never would have figured that the 2+2 would have less leg room for the driver?

I'm sick of all these japanese cars with no leg room!LOL!

I just crossed two cars off my TO BUY list recently, due to them being to small. They were the series 6 rx7 and the honda s2000. The rx7 being the worst of the two!

i have a 2+2, never use the back seats, too small anyway

gonna take them out and design a sub enclosure to replace the seats that can be easily interchanged.

I would stick with the 2+2

I like having the extra room and having a fully inflated spare tyre is a bonus too.

2+2 all the way baby! :)

    I have a 2+2 and would never go to a 2 seater.

2+2 just gives you more options. Yes, there is little room for passengers, but that doesn't mean they wont fit. I've carried my mates around in the back many times...and even though it was tight, I still got them home. :)

If you don't have use for the back seats, fold them down. The boot space with them folded down is huge. I've carried my front bar in the boot before with no problems. So that's what I mean by options.

Another plus is the 2+2 is more rarer in Aus. Could mean better resale value. They look pimp when you lower them. I could go on and on...

I don't know...it's personal preference really. Just depends if you want to have the option of carrying more than one passenger if it needs be...and if you like the extra boot space...etc

They definitely are more rare though...especially the Twin Turbo's.

    Cheers
    Rob.

    you make a good point

I, stupidly, never even considered being able to fold down the back seat for more room. Its actually making more sense to me to get the 2+2

Z-Force, 2+2's rarer ????? You've got to be joking

For starters EVERY locally sold Z32 was a 2+2

and the japs loved the 2+2; to the best of my knowledge the 2+2 in Japan outsold the coupe by quite a margin in EVERY year of manufacture

Combine these two facts and there is NO WAY that a 2+2 is rarer than a coupe in Australia

As far as resale values go, the only price difference would be a slight premium if it was a manual

As for folding down the back seat for more load carrying capacity, I couldn't agree with you more. Every time I have to move a heap of stuff I fold down the back seat of the FORD STATION WAGON and fill 'er up :LOL::LOL:

If you want a tighter , better handling zed

id go the 2 seater , if you want to carry shit go the 2+2... i like the fact that the 2 seater isnt as long and feels more nimble .. but i could be bias .. its a sports car .. if you want room go buy a fagna... ( flame suit on ).

im hopefully buying a 2+2 soon... but i love the 2 seater so much more, more favorite is a 2 seater slick top. with those sexy retrims... like in some guy on heres signature, the 2 seater has so much more class, and in my opinion sports cars dont have back seats.

i prefer 2 seater, think they look nicer on the outside too;)

more room in the back of a Z than a silvia

id keep the 2+2, 4 people in the car is no drama

and with the seat down theres heaps of room to carry shite in the back.. have 2 12" subs, room to fit my targas and run a 13 second quarter mile.. what more could you want in a car

by the way.. slightly longer wheel base makes the car more stable around corners girlies.. look it up, and much easier to control sideways

    Z-Force, 2+2's rarer ????? You've got to be joking

Actually, before the 15 year rule applied, there were far more 2 seaters here than 2+2. The 2+2 was $7000 to comply and only about 4 or 5 companies could comply them, where as the 2 seater was a very common car to comply where most compliance companies did them and a lot cheaper to comply.

So compare say 5 companies @ 25 per year for the 2+2 to say 200 companies @25 per year for the 2 seater and that will show the figures.
The 2+2 was always more expensive beacause of not only the buy price in JP, but the huge compliance costs involved also.

By rights...the 2+2 should always be worth more than the 2 seater.
    IMO
