The jaycar one is probably the best value for money EBC but you have to know how to solder. Here is a really long thread on Skylines Australia which will answer all of your questions. However, if you're after something flashy looking then is definitely not the EBC for you.
Why is it asking for trouble? They work flawlessly and the guy who makes them has sold hundreds around the world and so far i have not heard of any negative feedback. Just because its cheap doesn't mean it's crap, it means he isn't trying to rip people off.
mmm.. hundreds vs hundreds of thousands... does this controller even have any product support (i.e. warranty?) At this price I find it hard to imagine..
I bought one of the $30 BC's just to see what all the wrap was about, they certainly look to be a nicely made little unit and the positive feedback from what can be a fairly critical market is amazing. They weren't made for those wanting Electronic boost controllers or wanting to run big boost on worked engines...but for budget boost I think they are a top product  I want feedback on your GIZMO EBC minivan, they are a good company who do provide great product support. Their EBC's have a good wrap and their pricing is great.
Apexi AVC-R is good its makes a excellent combo with the Apexi Power FC, you can pick up a AVC-R for $850.
is that site based in australia? or is it international shipping?? 650 for avcr is cheap!! is that for a ZX ?
Yes it does actually. Direct contact with the manufacturer via email and i even have had one replaced. note: the reason it was replaced was i THOUGHT it was faulty but i had actually installed it wrong.
Caz what do you mean they aren't suitable for worked engines?? There are plenty of people running them at high boost
Yep they're in VIC... Just give one of the guys a call on the contacts page and they will definitely help with your questions. A number of people on this forum have dealt with this company and have only good things to say
My bad...just had bad experiences with cheap and nasties off ebay.. Have you got a link to the product?? Is this the same boost controller that has had good success on SAU? All the stigma around manual boost controllers just turned me off them completely. But seeing how much you and others beleive in the product quality, I may have changed my mind.
if you're commin to the cruise mate, I have one in the centre console that was removed for boost jets - you can have a look - buy it for minimal cost if you want...
Re: I bought one of the $30 BC's just to see what all the wrap was about, t will do caz, theyve just brought out a new one (due out next month.. have 2 on the way (one for my bro and one for me) higher specs and faster processor (see their webpage) also have a tach recall shift light and launch control coming.. my bros signed up to be their WA distributor.. so im gunna have a big GIZZMO Racing sticker on my windscreen for awhile.. hehe
Re: I bought one of the $30 BC's just to see what all the wrap was about, t crap.. was on my mates computer when i posted that.. didnt realise he had a login.. haha (above post was me)
Turbotech MBC from eBay...all the way! I'm with lysergic. The $35 Turbotech controller from eBay is all you need...if you're running stock turbo's. In my opinion, you don't need an EBC if you're not going to go higher than 14psi. What's the point? I would only get an EBC if I was running aftermarket turbo's and boosting to 20+ PSI. Because I'm using my stock turbo's and only wanted a constant 14 odd PSI, then the Turbotech MBC is all I required. Set it and forget it. The Turbotech MBC from eBay has had hundreds of reviews from many turbo car owners...majority of them are positive. Yes, it's cheap...but it's a simple device...it's not electronic and it's not a 'brand name' item. It does the job and does it correctly. That's all you need... Cheers Rob.
Do not misrepresent the Simark MBC as being a bleed valve type. It isnt. The ball and spring MBC isnt a bleed valve. And for under 20 PSI work really well. People are using boost jets at 14psi and higher. Now there is a disaster waiting to happen.
Re: Turbotech MBC from eBay...all the way! I also have one, they are built really tough even though they cost $35 delivered. They will boost just as fast as an EBC!! Why spend the money on a EBC when you don't have to.
I got a turbotech MBC but not yet fitted I was reading what was said on the SAU forums and also on here. All i have to do now is fit everything back up as i have done all the vac lines in the engine bay and got new clamps for everything etc. Nath
