I have a full twin 3" Kakimoto exhaust, and while I'm happy with the sound it makes (not too loud) - I'm not sure if it's restricting my power or not. Do people know if these are a high flowing performance exhaust?? (assuming you have good dumps also) - or are they known for not being that high performance..?? ie, is there a lot better out there?? Cheers, Ben.
i have a 2.75" or 70mm kakimoto catback exhaust has a nice sound...i think the resinators keep the note low... i had a rear cannon die tho...so now have metalcat staino 3" cannons:thumbsup:
3" is too big, wont go into the debate, just use search function kakimoto is apparently top stuff, real good shit.
Kakimoto is a reputable brand.. so if it is definitely Kakimoto then I wouldn't worry about changing your exhaust at all. Although twin 3" is a bit of overkill depending on how much power you're chasing. Twin 2.5" is good for 600HP I believe without affecting performance in any way. Its good to keep the exhaust a consistent size as well. Put it this way. It will probably flow better than most custom fabricated performance exhausts out there. Machines using lasers and computers to make the ideal exhaust compared to an exhaust specialist fabricating?? Its obvious that the company are more likely to know how to gain as much performance as possible compared to the bloke saying ummm... well we'll just put a bend right about here... Now just get some hi-flow cats and some good dumps/engine pipes (eg. CES highly recommended) and you'll be laughing. :zlove:
I've got a twin 3" Kakimoto system as well ... I've had the car 6 years and it was on the car when it landed from Japan. Can't really answer the question about whether its restricting power or not cos I've never made a comparison. However Kakimoto are a Japanese tune with a good rep, and I would think their systems are well designed. I like way they offset the tips to the bottom of the cannon which keeps it nicely tucked up high instead of hanging low. I will give the Kakimoto system A+++++ for its note, which is muted but purposeful, and its noise control. I think the EPA guy was quite surprised when I was flagged over for a noise test and it was measured at 87db at 4200rpm . Use a bit of babelfish and check out their website http://www.kakimotoracing.co.jp/.
Ok, lets try the question re-phrased >>>> Would a twin 3" Kakimoto system be restrictive for any power levels up to 500rwhp??? - or would you require a better system to help reach 500rwhp?
