After owning the zed for over 2 years now i finally got myself a set of 18s.:zlove:

And what a day trying to get them fitted!

It all started on Thursday when i went down after work to The Tyre Factory in Cheltenham. I needed tyres really really really really really badly, as mine where slicks with metal coming out of them!

But the rims i wanted they didnt have in stock, but could get them later in the day, but i was so tired from work i told him id be back on Friday.
I joked around the Steve from the TTF if my tyres would last another day and he said they should, but watch out for the cops(thats how bad they were).

Friday comes and i had to take my work car into work, so i left the zed with the new gf to bring into work to pick me up at 11am, all went fine until i jumped into the drivers side and left to go to TTF.
From work to TTF is about 2km, so i drive out the gates, 1st gear...2nd gear....3rd gear and bang!!!

The rear passenger side blew up!:angry:
Hows that for luck, im on my way to get some new rims and tyres and my tyre blows up.

Well thats the start of it.......

So i get a lift with a guy from work to get a spare + jack from TTF so i can just get the car there, no problems i get one.

I fit the spare and i get another problem, the rim touches the rear caliper!!!!!:angry:

So i ring them again, and this time a guy comes with a deep clearance rim, it fits but i couldnt get the nuts on!!! FFS!!:angry:

So i eventully pulled my space-saver tyre out and the guy went and filled it up, came back and yeah after about 90mins of stuffing around i finally got to TTF. (i should have done this from the start, but i needed a jack):embarrassed:

    Well here are some pics:

If you need rims or tyres, Steve at The Tyre Factory will help you out!!

Now the only problem i have is when i take corners, the front wheel scraps on the inner black guard...can i remove these guards so it doesnt scrap. I used search but didnt find nothing. Can it be done? Is it wise to do? Any info is good. Thanks

    Max:thumbsup:

P.S. Im really really really happy with these rims, i cant help myself from looking at them! :zlove::zlove::zlove:

    Re: New rims

They look very nice Max, but they will drive you crazy keeping them clean.:LOL:
To answer your problem about wheels rubbing on inner guard skirts,
a combination of 235/40/18 tyres (or wider), and possibly incorrect offset, can cause this problem. One way to fix this is to have adjustable Tension Rods (which will allow you to move the front wheels forward or backwards) so that you can gain a small clearance. This needs to be done in conjunction with a wheel alignment.
If the tyres are rubbing at the front of the wheel arch, you can expect to rub a hole through the inner guard skirt. If this happens on the passenger side, you will also wear a hole through the radiator overflow bottle, which may lead to a great deal more problems. I caught mine just after the first, and just before the second, of those possibilities.
    Hope this helps.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

    nice rims!

they are very good looking rims...

they will be hard to keep clean but you need to clean them at lest once a week to make sure no brake dust starts eating into the rims which is pretty bad once it happens nothing you can do about that.. But watch what you use to clean them with.. we use stuff at work called alloy king strong stuff which is not on off the shelf product. I just got stock rims but i cleaned my rims a few weeks ago and they still look great only abit of brake dust but most of the dirt is from off the road.

I think CHILI summed it all up i dont know very much about offsets etc but yeah hehe was good to know CHILI :)

They look very nice, mine are similar but

all scratched up from the previous owner. Getting them fixed is waaaaaaaay down on the "to do list" but after seeing how good your look maybe I should do it sooner....

Did you have stock rims previously? I'd be interested in buying them

if they aren't too knocked up.

    Dono

PS, the new rims look great. Are you going to paint those callipers red as well?

maxy looking good!! Did you ask ben what turbos to get yet? My fronts also

rub but only because of the profile on them. They were brand new 245/40/18's on the rear rims, so i bought 275/30/18's for the rear and put them on the front. If I ever change them I would get a 245/30/18 so it wouldn't rub.
