I luv my Z & was well happy with the paint (Black) but being the first black car I've ever owned i had no idea how dirty it gets. It is garaged every night and yet within one day of washing i can literaly run a finger along anywhere on the paint and will have dirt and carbon and crap on my finger. Painful
yeah sames my black zed is magnetically charged to pull dust in and stick it to every F#&king panel!!!
Dirt on Black I have found if I just don't wash it at all anymore the dirt stops building up and it looks like an even coat hehehehe... Agree'd it is a pain but beats the hell out of having a RED one... cause EVERYONE has a RED one hehehehehe Sorry ... hehehhee could not resist..
Re: Dirt on Black HAHAHAH lol my car would have to be the biggest z that is guilty of dust build up on the black paint being ive just got a resprey which makes the dust SOOO much more visible... BUTTTT GODDDD DAMMMMMMMMMM how sexy does it look when its CLEAN :zlove::zlove: its worth it p.s go and get a GOOD polish done to the carrr...u will find that after this the dust will easily go with a wipe from a "soft" cloth....the polish makes the paint like glass so the dust isnt really sitting on the paint firmly...while without the polish u will find that you will have to give it a wash to get the dirt off...
black cars The dust will still build up but ti gets to a point where you cannot see it all.. Leave your car out when it rains and its dirty rain and you will see the dirt right away once its stopped raining and the car has dryed off.. You cannot help dust falling onto any car.. its just that black and dark blues etc show the dirt more then say white cars... All i can say is just wash it once a week dont run your fingers down the paintwork as you will scratch the paint... At work even when we wash the black cars etc when they go into the warehouse the next day they are dirty but over time say give it a couple of days and you can see the dirt no matter what. Its just like people who leave bird shit on there cars.. once it eats into the paint thats it new respary of that panel.... Nath
Had the same problem, until>> I had the O2 Sensors changed. Cleared it up & now have NO carbon/dirt buildup on the tailend. The carbon buildup could be one of two things as I've stated above. The O2 Sensors are RS/not working properly & the second is, that your running far to rich a fuel mixture. The carbon that you have mentioned is unburnt fuel. Hope this helps you. Cheers Kerry
i know what you mean... i dont get that much build up of dust around my house..but once i go to me fella's house, i might as well wash the whole car again
Dust on Black 300ZX Hey ZGOODZ, Yep, mine too. No sooner have I washed it and the very next day it's got a coating of dust all over it. (even though the car hadn't gone anywhere) I suppose you gota get use to that especially up here in the desert - dust bowl city. Must agree with Chad_ after a good polish the paint is very slick and sheds the dust easily with a very quick rinse over or quick wash. The most annoying thing with owning a black car is the huge heat bank it becomes in the sun, oh boy it is miserable with the burning rays here. Something I'm learning the hard way and find a shady spot when ever I can! Just warn the kiddies before they touch the door handles - my daughter found out the hard way the other day. Some cars do bite!! Cheers, Kaz Alice Springs N.T.
So where is the carbon coming from? >> that he mentions. Don't tell me that your visionary perception has allowed you deduct that he's driving through smoke from fires or that its carbon build up from his tyres when he spins the wheels.:LOL::LOL: Cheers Kerry
RE: So where is the carbon coming from? I would suggest that it is coming from the brake pads, mostly. I know my car gets plenty of it along the front guards, doors and rear guards, and the last time I checked, the exhaust only exits at the rear of the tailpipes (which on my Z32, is at the back of the car):LOL::LOL:
When I was 15 long long ago, this rich old dude rocked up to our shop in a black Merc and I remembering him asking me which colour do I think shows the least dirt. I said "black of course!" "Wrong" he replied "White" was his reply "and that car out there was the worst colour I could have bought!" "It always looked dirty" I think he sold it not long after. What was that you said about RedZeds Luig
one of the best things I ever bought was this thing called an EzyClean from Autobarn. It looks like a big feather duster but is designed for use on cars and is coated with some sort of coating which lifts the dust of the car while not scratching. You dont need to clean it and it works better the dirtier it gets. Forum member EnuffZ recomended it to me and it works a treat. It wont clean the car if its got road grime (such as after a heavy downpour). But if the car is clean and you've driven past a dusty road or let the car sit in the garage for a week and all the dust settles, it gets it off a treat. Cheers
Re: one of the best things I ever bought Nice, i'm gonna have to look into one of those i think . With the carbon buildup i think it's just living so close to the city and driving in and around the city everyday. None of my other cars ever showed it so bad though
I live at the end of a 1km stretch of unsealed limestone and gravel you can imagine how dirty my black zed gets after a week
My black Z Mine usually dont get really dirty, At an average i wash my Z once every week. AAnd living in the country area if its really windy here then it gets fairly dirty. But on an average day, its alrite. I use aa touch up shine on my car everytime i wash it and the after result make the car look really slick.
I've always known black was hard to keep clean but I didn't know the full extent til owning the car for 2 days! And the cleanest colour is Silver IMHO my last car was silver, and I'd wash it like 2 times a year.
