I'm curious as to just how bad can the engine can run with faulty O2's? I mean when I plug mine in, I can't even hold steady revs to test them anymore, if I try take it to between 2 and 3k's, the engine farts and splutters and drops below 2k's. Makes me think it could be something else that's just made worse with the O2's plugged in.
i'll drop that o2 off to you tomorrow evening, i'll give you my old dump to and you can pull the other out.. cant hurt to give it a go
it could hurt my knuckles! I guess I'd just like to make sure it's the O2's before going to the trouble of switching them. I was actually getting 16-17 volts and climbing from the harness heater wires with the O2's disconnected, dunno if that's normal. Are you heading up this way tomorrow for something else? I'll head down there otherwise.
Re: it could hurt my knuckles! yeah.. going all the way to clarkson actually to pick my car up from the exhaust shop.. ooo baby get MSN would ya.. you think a computer nerd would have MSN we always chat on the forum haha
he's like an hour away from Clarkson do you live up that way Claymen? I asked in another thread cos you sounded like a pom and they all live up there.
Re: he's like an hour away from Clarkson clarkson is almost as woop woop as scotties house yes.. cost me 100 bucks for a tow truck driver to take the car from my house.. cashy, 190 from moby tow
clarkson is just a stones throw away... well im between scottie and clarkson! and no im not a pom... true blue aussie
all aussie here yer im in duncraig, so its not that far to goto clarkson from here. scotties on the other hand is true woop woop. the bush mechanic as it seems.
btw! my EGR pipes were as clogged as yours.. well, one of them is, about to cut the other one. Scotty already pulled the vacuum to the EGR though so not sure if I'll get any improvement. Actually there wasn't any difference when he did that so they're probably both tottaly clogged.
Re: btw! umm.. under boost your EGR pipe can open apprently (turbo manifold pressure is = inlet pressure + exhaust backpressure), you really need to block it off from the turbo manifold too
well I cut it up where the pipe bolts into the plenum and blocked it there as well as the pipe that went to it, I read somewhere the manifold can wait if done like that but will make sure before I start her up.
does the CZP kit do this? http://www.conceptzperformance.com/Cart/description.php?II=543&Car_Type=300&UID=
Re: yeah yeah, thats to remove it completely, bit of a rip if you ask me, i made a couple of plates (drill plus angle grinder is all you need) and bought a bolt to whack in the hole, cost me 8 bux its a plenum off job to remove it, but if you cut the pipes with a dremel in the interim till you take your plenum off for something else if you have blocked the pipes and put them back on, then yeah you wont need to do the exhaust mani yet how did you block the pipes? when you say they are blocked, do you mean on top? do you realise the outlet is actually facing the cabin not shooting upwards?
pretty much like this http://www.twinturbo.net/net/viewmsg.aspx?forum=general&msg_id=1334183&words=egr::bypass ie. cut and JB welded, actually quick steel.. unfortunately I was too wuss to squeeze the pipe with my small pliers but I don't see a whole lot of pressure coming through them or they wouldn't have blocked up. I was going to make plates as you did but found it easier to cut the pipe either side of the flange (including the outlet that faces the cabin), shoved a bolt in it from below to make sure it can't pull through and used some more quick steel.
yeah im curios too between 2k and 3k for me is pretty f&**ed up. if i drive slow its smooth, and if i drive fast its cool as well, its just mid throttle around that rev range. so ne1 who replaced their o2's and fixed their problems, please describe their symptons before putting the new o2s in thanks.
hmmburger I'm starting to suspect that since the hesitation began soon after fixing the rear PCV hose leak, the leak may have been compensating for otherwise running rich for some reason and that quickly killed one of the O2's. I guess I'll check the fuel regulator tomorrow, not sure what else it'd be but pretty sure this would have occurred under vacuum and so not due to other leaks. Sure would be nice to have widebands to help in diagnosing these things, of course they probably wouldn't last long either!
Re: hmmburger maybe your PCV is rooted, and when you connected the vac back up properly its made it worse again
