    G'Day all. Thank You for your site.

    I was really happy to find your site. I have learnt so much already.

    I have a questions/request.

    I am in Adelaide and after years of working on the leader of the opposition (wife) I have the finanaces to purchase my first 300zx.

    I have been researching these cars for years. I have a pretty good knowledge of the cars and what I want but hardly any practical knowledge. (I am a teacher which means I don't know a heck of a lot about anything really!)

    The wife says I can buy one but I must get a good one and not a bomb that will cost us heaps of money. (Sound familiar anyone?)

    I have a couple of cars in Sydney that I am interested in and are looking to fly in early Jan or late December and hopefully drive my dream car home.

    Are there any enthusiasts in Sydney that can help me?

    I would pay someone to help me find my dream car (not a nightmare) and offer advice on these cars in NSW as I look.

    I'll give you all a quick run down of what I want.

    Price = $13000 - $18000 ish
    Type = Jspec? 3oozx 2+2 Non turbo
    Colour = Red (Or something else if a good enough car)
    Seats = Not leather (YUK)
    Year = 1990+
    Original condition would be great (not modified)
    Trans = Auto or manual

    I have noted some similar posts to mine but I assure you I am serious.

    I have the money, I want the car, I need your help. I want the best possible car and are prepared to pay for your advice.

    In fact any advice on this site would be appreciated in my quest.

    Ideally though I would like to get the help from someone who knows a bit about these cars and can help me make the right choice when I arrive in Sydney.

    I couldn't think of anything better than looking at 300's all day! Anyone else share my passion/disease?

    Thanks everyone in advance!!!!!

    Hi Mervan and welcome to the forum

    For that money you should be able to get a good car.

    I'm sure there are a number of fellow zedders in Sydney who would nly be too willing to help out.

    The configuration of car you are looking for is also the Australian released model - i.e. 2+2, N/A, Targa Top, so you may like to consider one of these also if there's a good one available.

    Also, why limit yourself to Sydney? As you are in Adelaide, why not include Melbourne in your search?

    Good luck in your quest.

    Cheers,

    Peter

    Wow quicky replies!

    Thanks for the quick replies.

    The blue zx has a lot of km's. Is that a big issue for these cars. I really haven't considered Aussie delivered b4.

    Hopefully someone will come and help.

    as with any car, kilometers are an issue

    however the vast majority of the j-spec cars that you see will not have genuine kilometers on them. they will have been wound back by the suppliers in japan. with the aus-specs the kilometers are far more likely to be genuine. plus that is a 1994, so it has velour interior, which is far far nicer than the cloth. aus-specs also are easier and cheaper to insure, because they were delivered to australia. the full dealer service history on that car is also quite a large plus:thumbsup:

    good luck with your search

    i think you will always have to spend money on zeds

    they are beautiful cars and require a lot of dedication and money!

    expect to pay quite a bit on maintainence and even more if you don't do it yourself... there aren't many service departments out there that will look at zeds or have the knowledge of them....

    however;

    this forum has all the knowledge you need to grab a spanner and get to work on her. I know some people here enjoy working on their zeds more than driving them! :p

    Nice sentiment about your father, Mervan:thumbsup:-I'm sure

    I speak for everyone when I say you are one nice son. Take your time, don't buy the cheapest one you find and pick the best zed available (don't worry, there are heaps for sale ATM).

    Oh, And get a forum member to inspect it for you prior to purchase...!

    When you say you want 4 seats, have you looked at a 2+2 :LOL:

    What you get is TWO seats & a couple of kiddy seats like they have in the shopping trolley at Woolworths :LOL:

    Its not all bad

    I wanted to test out the 'comfort' of the rear seats for myself, so when the oppurtunity came up, I had my 6'4 friend in the drivers seat who has the seat ALL the way back, me right behind him, a very large dude next to me in the back and his much smaller girlfriend in the front passenger seat hehe.

    It was pretty squishy but still do-able, (this sort of setup for short trips only though or I would have walked out with blue legs hehe) but when your the driver, who cares how much leg room the people in the rear have. They'd be happy enough just being in the zed to worry about their legs anyway!

    Also, the amount of times those extra 2 seats have come in handy for me is a lot. I guess it depends on what you need the zed for. The boot in the 2 seater is much nicer and deeper though, but I have fitted 2 wheels, a bonnet, a strut brace and a passenger all in the car at once in my 4 seater :cool:
