how come the video quality shows on my laptop(sony GeForce Go 6200 with TurboCache 128MB) is not as good as on the pc at uni? any ideas? thanks
Do you mean video quality, or speed? The Vid quality should be the same (relatively speaking) across a given chipset. The Turbo cache cards utilise a small amount of card memory and then some system memory, so if the laptop has slower memory than the desktop, then it may be slower. Not many laptops are set up for gaming applications PEX Computer.
Are you running the native screen resolution? What kind of video are you viewing? DVD, AVI? Is the resolution on uni PC lower than on your laptop? Do you have x-brite glossy type screen? are you using the same application on both machines and the codec? What resolution are you running on your laptop now, is everything else looking OK at the moment? I can point you in the right direction after you give me answer to these.
oh ok here we go the videos that i was viewing were mainly from events. yes the resolution on uni pc(800x600) is lower than my laptop.i used Windows Media Player 10 on my laptop and Windows Media Player 9 on uni pc.The resolution on my laptop is 1280x800 and the screen is WXGA, Clear Bright with DUAL LAMP. everything else looking good, play dvd is not a problem. thanks
The original resolution of the clip is the problem From what I can tell you are watching clips that maybe encoded in say 320 x 240. When you watch them at Uni the screen res is 800 x 600 which is closer to the original clip. When you watch it on your laptop at 1200 x 800 the clip is upscaled to fit the screen and looks like ass. This all assumes you are watching the clips in fullscreen mode ?
That's the answer Since your laptop has higher resolution, the 800x600 video will be stretched to fit your screen if you put it on full screen, so you either have to keep it on original size (small) and watch it like so or looking at the video from distance might also help.
the thing is that i am not using full screen is there any sort of plug-in i have to download or something?
Laptop definatly set to 24bit or higher colour depth ? Right click Desktop | Properties | Settings | Colour Quality Try using a different Media Player like VLC Make sure you have the latest Video Drivers for your laptop Is windows running in the native 1200 x 800 res that the TFT is built for anything less will look furry/fuzzy Cant think of anything else right now
would be really hard to tell if you need plugin we need the actual video itself. Suffice to say that's likely the problem here. Is there a link to the video?
