Well my car is now loosing a cylinder intermittently. I haven't driven the car in a few & last time I did it was missing occasionally & had a rough idle.

Today, while warming the car up in the driveway it was idling ok, but them dropped a cylinder for maybe 30 seconds and was idling very rough. Then it started idling fine again. I popped the bonnet and checked that all injector plugs were plugged in, I also wiggled all the coil pack connectors but it didn't disrupt the idle.

Just pulling out of the driveway, I could tell she was struggling. But then once I got down the road it seemed ok again. When I stopped at the round a bout it dropped a cylinder intermittently again. At this stage I was getting pissed!!! So what did I do, I gave it a boot full & it was fine, didn't miss at all. Then occasionally with some light throttle I could feel it wasn't running quite right.

What are your thoughts? I changed my spark plugs to NGK iridium (BKR6EIX-11) items 2,000k's ago. Could they be fouled already?

    I'm lost :(

Maybe it's your PTU? I'm not sure actually

It would be a good idea to unscrew the PTU from the timing covers and give those connectors a good clean up unless you did this already

    Try cleaning all the contacts

on the PTU, CAS, AFM and TPS

I doubt it's your plugs. But it might be worth checking the connectors to your injectors. These have a habit of growing nice green corrosion. Bugger to get at though.

It's always something isn't it Jono:rolleyes: Drives me nuts too:wacko:

    Yeah, its annoying & upsetting

All injector and coilpack plugs are clean. Gave them a good soak with INOX when I changed the spark plugs.
Have also cleaned TPS and AFM plugs, but haven't touched the PTU. That will be happening as soon as I get the car back.

He's got an old PTU for $75, might be worth getting and swapping over to see if it changes anything? Sorry, don't really want to touch mine, it's been going fine so far, and I don't really want to mess with it!

    That's fine Andrew...

But money is tight, & $75 isn't much but it all adds up. I'd like to try & track down the problem as best as possible before buying anything.

I'm sure I'll find someone else who's willing to swap their's over :)

Wonder if one of your coil packs is buggered?

Seems you have done everything else.

    just a quick question

how do you take off the maf connector, it has like a thin metal thing running around but i could not get it off.

also where is the ptu connector located?

    thanks...

The PTU is on the drivers side timing cover and there is a connector

    on each end.

The metal clip you are talking about holds the plugs in place, and stops them from coming off.
You need to release the clip first before you can take the plug off.
Just use a small flat head screw driver to undo the clip.
PTU is where lysergic explained, you won't miss it.
